Indeed. Taxes hit the middle class. It must be so - only the middle class has the numbers and owns the taxable properties that can support the massive government bureaucracy.
I have friends living in Westchester County. Typical 3-4 bedroom suburban, stick-construction houses, on 1/2-3/4 acre.
Because also prices are rising have been rising, one of these “normal” houses might cost $700K, and school, and local property taxes on that could be $22-25K per year
Its completely outrageous.
