You can tell by the way he's phrasing his sentences, his 'refelctions' on it. This attack never happened. You could already tell that by what he claims the imaginary attackers did. There are racists ... but you don't lie well when you think the more cliche's (noose, bleach, MAGA) you pack into your lie, the more believable the story is.

Now it's more weak cliche's like 'they won't win.' He's turning this into 'fake but true', in other words, "the attack didn't happen, but the narrative is a reality." This is a popular recent lefty turn, one that never would have held water in the past, to continue an analogy, with out the press carrying that water.
