Senator Sasse Tells Virginia Governor To ‘Get The Hell Out Of Public Office’ Over Abortion Remarks

Nebraska Republican Sen. Ben Sasse reacted to comments Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam made Wednesday morning, telling the governor that he shouldn’t serve in government if he supports leaving babies to die after they’ve been born.

Northam, in a Wednesday morning interview, couldn’t precisely answer whether he supports abortion until birth and suggested an infant could be born and then the mother and doctor could discuss what should happen next, The National Review reported.

“This is morally repugnant,” Sasse said in a statement.

“In just a few years pro-abortion zealots went from ‘safe, legal, and rare’ to ‘keep the newborns comfortable while the doctor debates infanticide,'” Sasse continued, according to The National Review. “I don’t care what party you’re from — if you can’t say that it’s wrong to leave babies to die after birth, get the hell out of public office.”

not widely known, but they based their work on one of their colleagues at King’s College in London - Rosalind Franklin, an x-ray diffraction expert whose images of DNA proteins in the early 1950s revealed a helix shape. It wasn’t until they saw Franklin’s work that Watson and Crick began hunting for the long, braided twist that turned out to be DNA’s true shape.

Why wasn’t Franklin honored for her contributions? Many have argued that her early death prevented her from getting the recognition she deserved, since Nobel Prizes can only go to living people. Others have suggested something slightly more sinister.

There is only one clear moral line on this issue: NEVER permit abortion, period. Once you move beyond that crystal clear line it all gets fuzzy, with each person deciding for themselves when they think it should be permissible, and at what point of fetal development abortion constitutes (for them) “going too far.” You can’t have moral standards based upon personal whims (or “choice”). To do so inevitably leads to what is considered moral being relentlessly redefined downward until you get to a point such as the one we are discussing here, literal infanticide.

If moral standards are determined by either consensus or personal opinion, what is considered moral will ALWAYS move over time toward greater permissibility, because sinful human beings will naturally keep moving the needle just enough to permit them to indulge in their personal favorite sin without being condemned for it. That is why true moral standards CANNOT originate with men, but rather must come from an external source: God.
