My parents are deceased; so are my in-laws. I’m just waiting to wrap up my career and qualify for my last pension, then it’s off to Tennessee or Mississippi. Virginia is a lost cause; the Dims can simply run up a plurality in Norfolk, Richmond and the suburban D.C. counties and win every statewide election. Making matters worse, the GOP lost the redistricting battle and wound up with Democrat judges drawing the district lines for General Assembly seats.

If you want a good look at Virginia of 2030, take a peek at New Jersey, New York, or Connecticut. The after-birth abortion bill will pass after the Dims take control of the General Assembly, and the next Democrat governor signs it. The confiscatory tax rates will be implemented over the next decade.

The dems scream gerrymandering then get democrat appointed judges to gerrymander in their favor. It’s the democrat socialist way.
I doubt if Virginia will ever have another Republican governor. The northern counties, Norfolk and Richmond will overwhelm us just as you say. They’re doing it now.

I drove Long haul for for years and saw enough of Jersey, NY and CT to know what’s coming. It ain’t gonna be pretty in 15 years.

I’ve been thinking of buying an extended van and fixing it up as an RV and just being a nomad. Pick a state, maybe Florida, as my legal domicile and just traveling. Stay out of the cities and check out the small towns and countryside.
Already told my kids not to expect me to hang around. Maybe come back once a year for a reunion and see everyone.
