Several liberal Democrats are speaking out against the Trump administration's stance against Venezuelan socialist dictator Nicolas Maduro -- even describing the support for opposition leader Juan Guaido as a “US backed coup” -- despite bipartisan support elsewhere for the administration's actions.
The Trump administration announced last week that it was formally recognizing Guaido as the country’s legitimate leader, and this week announced billions of dollars in sanctions against Maduro and the state-owned oil company.
Republicans and some Democrats have backed Trump’s move, noting the appalling human rights conditions in the country as well as the dire economic situation fueled by Maduro’s socialist policies.
But despite the deepening crisis under Maduro, some left-wing Democrats suggest the U.S. stance here is tantamount to America's support for right-wing Latin American dictators in the '70s and '80s. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who ran in the 2016 Democratic presidential primary, criticized Maduro for wrecking the economy, attacking protesters and violating the constitution -- but expressed concern about U.S. actions.
“However, we must learn the lessons of the past and not be in the business of regime change or supporting coups – as we have in Chile, Guatemala, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic,” he said in a statement. “The United States has a long history of inappropriately intervening in Latin American countries; we must not go down that road again."

The Democrats are making it hard, but I agree. The USA right now is trying to defend against its own coup from the FBI and Mueller.

But since democRATS don't have any morals or principles, it matters not to them that they switch sides between backing Russia or hating America as long as it helps substantiate their agenda and narrative at the moment.
They hate Trump no matter whose side they take.

Right now they think it is more convenient to side with Russia in Venezuela at the same time they oppose the Russians who they say colluded with Trump to help him win the election against their lying, corrupt, sourpuss witch Hillary. Make sense? No.
They were for a democRAT Wall when Obama was president before they were against Trump's Wall, a la John Kerry, in his infamous flip-flop. Make sense? No.
Now they are for illegals against the interests of their own American constituents. Make Sense? No.
Their current problem is they are against anything Trump is for. Puts them between a rock and a hard place on many issues.
But not to worry. They have no shame and will say anything to make Trump look bad even if it makes them look worse.
If Obama was still president and held Trump's policies, they would be for every one of them. Liberals are extraordinarily duplicitous and dishonest people.
They have absolutely no credibility which begs me to question how the whole Mueller thing got off the ground at all.
Yes and they always have been. I sometimes forget they were for Hitler before they were against him.
