CNN ^ | June 22. 2018 | Melissa Mahtani

The reality of life on the US-Mexico border is not what President Trump is describing from Washington, according to the mayor of El Paso, Texas. Dee Margo, a Republican, said there's a vibrant relationship between his city -- the largest on that border -- and Juarez, Mexico.

I wonder how much the cartels are funneling to the mayor?

He must be referring to the stray rounds hitting the courthouse.

Just a small portion of what they are paying various Democrats in Congress

There are about 3 million Mexicans with Border Crossing Cards (BCC). They go back and forth on a daily basis, many spending money in the US. There are economic reasons for the mayor to cozy up to the Mexicans.

And the guy that is mayor of a city the is next to a Mexican city that is often off limits to military personnel due to murder, drugs, prostitution. Yup, Juarez is a great place. Do they still have the donkey show?

My sister plays in the El Paso symphony, and they used to play in Juarez, until 1-2 years ago, when they stopped, because it was just too dangerous. Yeh, real nice place.

One time when I was down their in the 90s, a news story was about the PD locating a large number of brand new police cars stolen before they were even assigned. They found them south of the border repainted for the a police force in Mexico.

Vibrant? If we had a real FBI the finances of all those borders politician would be investigated for any "vibrant" cash arrangements with cartels and/or other foreign sources.

For this mayor in particularly, if he finds it “virtually impossible to tell where El Paso ends and Juarez begins” he should be impeached and barred from holding public office.

No surprise here. This guy is an old friend and ally of the Bush family, who are as bad as any Democrat on immigration.

Margo and other open borders Republicans should ask themselves why zip codes closest to the US-Mexico borders invariably have the lowest incomes, some of the highest welfare dependence, and some of the worst school performance of any in the US. Must be that "vibrant" culture he's talking about...

In the last week, wasn’t there just an alert to Americans NOT to travel to Juarez?

For years, Juarez has been the world’s murder capital. The only reason we don’t hear much about it now is that it has recnetly been surpassed by even worse places like Guatemala City, San Salvador, and Tegucigalpa (who are also sending use “migrants” in droves).

The smallish city I live in is surrounded by small towns just full of that ‘vibrant ‘ culture. We have a friend who owns a restaurant in one. We make sure we’re gone before dark.

Only 3 million?
When we moved from El Paso in 2015 my bride decided to have a yard sale. She sets the sale for 8AM and goes to put out signs around 6:30. Three carloads of Juariners follow her home and it's on.
I'm having large fun watching them tie her in knots from the kitchen window (she speaks no Spanish) until a few decide to "check out the house" and I have to get involved.
All's well that ends well. I talked one guy into hauling off all the junk in my garage for an old refrigerator. (This guy gets on the phone and two pickups show up in 5 mins. 15 mins later my garage is cleaned out.)
We made a little money,I got a major headache resolved and it was hilarious watching them put a well organized "bums rush" on my unsuspecting bride.
