Years ago, I worked with a guy who had a slightly crazed uncle who’d spent maybe six weeks in the Marines. The Marines let him go because of mental issues. The thing was that he went in around the last couple of months that the war was underway. A decade after this event, the slightly crazed uncle (probably due to Paranoid Schizophrenia) had adapted to a Vietnam vet wardrobe...he had some storyline of getting finished with boot-camp and getting shipped off to Nam. In his mind, he believed all of this (wasn’t a hoax or intentional).

I look at Nathan Phillips and kinda wonder if maybe he might be a nutcase who just took this onto the next level.

Nah, Phillips knows exactly what he is doing. The “Vietnam Vet” narrative is designed to give him more cred and plays into his victim-hood ideology, alluding to the mistreatment former service members endured after returning from the war. And since he’s Native American, that makes him a victim twice-over.

The one thing Phillips didn’t count on was conservative activists tracking down his DD214 and exposing his lies. Not that Phillips actually cares; the MSM is still providing cover for him. In his interview on “Today,” Savannah let Phillips describe his service, and he promptly lied (again), saying he never stated he served in Vietnam. Of course, you can easily find Chief Fullabull saying exactly that, in interviews as recently as three weeks ago.

If you watch the interivew, you’ll see Ms. Guthrie never touched on Phillips’s three AWOLs and his discharge as an E-1 (same rank he had upon entering the Marine Corps). And the WaPo is now claiming that Phillips’s description of his duty title as a “ReconRanger” was based on his work on the reservation at the time. And they wonder why the MSM is dying....

Phillips is anything but crazy. He’s conniving, manipulatie and knows the buttons to push to advance his version of events.
