Neoconservatives, the architects of the War on Terror, are the political version of Jason in Friday the 13th: You can never bank on them being completely dead. They just hide under a log until the next funder appears.
The neocon media tribune, the Weekly Standard, did indeed fold recently. In no time they had a new voice: The Bulwark, edited by former Weekly Standard and current NBC/MSNBC contributor Charlie Sykes, with Weekly Standard founder

Not quite sure what a “neocon” is.
I am a constitutionalist conservative.
I have libertarian leanings ie. we have enough cops.
Saddam was training and paying off terrorists,
so I supported his ouster
(as did my fellow IA officers I met in Iraq,)
I believe in individual liberty and a strong military,
I believe in projecting military power overseas
the SECOND bad guys hurt my brothers ans sisters...
And I believe that our wait until 1941 to enter the war was a damned shame.
I believe that most FReepers of good conscience believe as I do.
They abhorred realpolitik and containment, hated Richard Nixon for going to China and preferred using force to spread American values, even if it meant removing an existing government. Reagans evil empire gibberish and semi-legal muscle-flexing in places like Nicaragua made neocons tingly and finalized their defection to the red party.

Trump on Iraq: How Could We Have Been So Stupid? “One Of The Worst Decisions In The History Of The Country”
Good point, our endless wars in the Middle East have been a great thing. How could anyone criticize?
Trump, for instance, apparently doesnt agree with you and the neocons for some crazy reason:
Trump: We Spent $6 Trillion In The Middle East, We Could Have Rebuilt Our Country Twice

Trump hits Bush: Invading Iraq ‘the single worst decision ever made’
The average Iraqi will kill your baby in her bed with glee.
The average American doesn’t have a clue and doesn’t care.
The average “conservative” American will happily kill or fire the young State Department official whose job it is to keep the average Iraqi from killing your daughter.
The average Freeper supported GWB and now crows about the “neocon deep state.”
Charles Lindbergh.
A neocon is a globalist who has never served in the military but offers an endless supply of American blood and treasure in the service of his goals.
Neocons are nearly always former Jewish Liberals hiding out in the Republican Party pretending to be conservatives. And they switched from liberal to conservative so they would have influence on US policy no matter which party was in power. I think this all started back around the time of Nixon. And I think their primary reason to exist is to influence US foreign policy in the Middle East.
Well the “flame wars” will really heat up on this thread.
I just hope all those that clamor for sending Americans to fight in foreign entanglements stop and think about the hundreds of thousand brave Americans who have served, died, and suffered, with honor, in not having achieved a decisive “victory” since the end of WWII.
It would really be nice if for once in the modern era we deployed our military in the prosecution of a War which resulted in the total annihilation of a Constitutionally Declared enemy.
To my way of thinking “neocons” have had no trouble sending others to fight killing wars for the furtherance of their Geopolitical goals.
I am far from being a pacifist. In fact I am a Combat Veteran of one of the non-victorious wars we have engaged in since WWII. I am simply sick to death of the misuse of our Military resulting in all the casualties without victory.
Flame away! Just don’t expect a public response in the furtherance of an argument concerning deeply held personal beliefs based upon personal experience.
The War on Terror was/is a response to 9/11.
It is fought not just in the Middle East, but in the US and world wide.
I agree with whatever Trump decides to do. Can I get an amen?
Funny - I have served, and my service was modest, but have the same values I had ten and twenty years ago. Maybe that makes me someone who needs to be subjected to the shifting values of finicky posters on a once-”neocon” site. Tomorrow - who knows? Maybe Mitt Romney will be the requisite hero. Maybe Obama! Who knows as long as morals and values change with the winds! May God Bless our anonymous online posters. I think I’ll have a shave with my Gillette and change my Nikes.
Neocon seems to have a protean definition.
I used to think I was one, based on the belief that all humans want the same things in life, such as freedom.
The lesson learned in dealing with Islam is that freedom is not something all cultures want. As a result, the notion of exporting democracy into other countries/cultures, especially at gunpoint, as in Bush and Iraq does nobody any favors.
For me, it had nothing to do with my military service.
Neocons are posers and frauds who thought 10 year long, "Compassionate wars" in foreign countries costing thousands of American lives and multiple trillions were somehow a good thing. They're the same AH's who think we should play the role of planetary cop, policing the world, regardless it if loots American blood and treasure.
Those days are over.
Neocons are in the pockets of the Saudis, anyway.
Neocons are largely Jewish liberals pretending to be conservative to get involved in the GOP. This of course doesn’t mean every Neocon was Jewish nor that every Jewish republican is a Neocon. (shouldn’t have to type that but don’t want to offend anyone here on free republic).
