They are brought into detention and fingerprinted. After that it is determined what there status is that is whether or not they will be prosecuted or just returned to their country of origin. It is in detention that they can also claim asylum, if someone claims asylum the agent fills out the paper work and the rest is left up to the judge.
No the military can not stop or arrest anyone. When the military was first deployed they were told that they could not protect an agent even if we were being shot at they could not shoot back to defend agents. They changed that rule but they are forbidden from doing any immigration enforcement.
Maybe we should only offer asylum papers in Swedish? It wouldn’t be our fault if that can’t fill them out. *bada*boom*kisk*
But seriously, written in legalese and must be filled out in exacting legalese.
Even the Swedes could read Swedish....

Turning cameras off and moving surveillance trucks because they see to many illegals who are not caught already happens. We only have so much man power and it is bad for management if we dont catch everything that we see.

What happens while they wait on the judge to decide? Are they released or they kept in custody?

I dont know what happens once they leave our facility. After we do the paperwork they are put on a bus and taken to another station or taken to the port to be returned to mexico.
Now that seems a contradiction in terms worth a chuckle.
They will bargain for anything in place of permanent barriers, simply because permanent barriers will delay their near-term goals.
Those goals are easily discerned by simply looking at their political record for the past few decades. They qualify for many titles but at the core they are anti-MAGA (see the sidewalks in SF for example).

Or, since they can’t be detained, they are released into the general population pending the adjudication of their asylum request. Of course, they have to ‘pinky promise’ to return for the court date in two or three years.

They are not released from station. They have to go to another station after ours. They might be released from there but I dont know for sure.
10 Billion additional taxpayer dollars recently rewarded to Mexico n central America buys nice things. Anyone who has taken a 5 year old to Disney knows they didn’t walk. 10 Billion dollars to them and not even half of that for the wall.
Yep, Mexico is really paying.
Militarize ICE, put them and the coasties in the DOD budget and keep them paid and active.
To do otherwise is downright stupid. Of course that fits with this nation. A ship of fools.
Posse comitatus doesn’t have a thing to do with protecting our borders and sovereignty.
