I don’t see amnesty. There is a three year extension so they can produce legislation to address the issue. I would expect maybe amnesty for DACA in exchange for no more chain migration and better work visas for farm workers and such.

Hoyer may be speaker soon anyway. Pelosi has called Trump Bush and Romney before. There is obviously something medically wrong with her.

Hey, Mitch, the HOUSE, not the Senate, must propose and pass any spending bills and then send it to the Senate.

Power of the Purse

“All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills.”
— U.S. Constitution, Article I, section 7, clause 1

Unless there is a bill already in the House your actions are pointless.

From the statement...
This bill...
Is there a bill in the House and is this bill you speak of simply your proposals and/or amendments? Why not tell America what the House bill number is so we can look at it for ourselves?
It's not that hard...Text of Bills for the Week of Jan. 21, 2019
House of Representatives

...especially when you have the bill number!

My thoughts exactly! He’s got the issue square in the rats lap.

The rat’s only counter is their version of what’s morally correct, which is to continue the tradition of letting immigrants into the nation as just about all of our ancestors were allowed to do. Now of course the idea of legal vs illegal immigrants is trumped by swamp bought and paid for political correctness.

Well, that is what I see as an extension of amnesty. A lot can happen in three years, and meanwhile these violators are in a state of grace. Time has a way of making the status quo permanent, which, I expect, is the idea.

You said he didn’t.. then said he did in your last sentence.

No, that's not what I said. Today he offered a three year extension for work permits for dreamers, and temporary status for 300k others. Then he said he would sign the bils to reopen the government and start to negotiate the amnesty.

Nobody like amnesty. And especially when there is nothing but promises of stopping illegal entry and another amnesty down the road for the new illegals. However Trump is proposing a real barrier (not just flimsy fencing) and will negotiate for reforms in exhange for the amnesty.

1986 amnesty did not destroy our country. The lack of border control destroyed our country. The million unskilled entrants we allow every year is destroying our country as we speak. That's what needs to stop. Giving amnesty to an extra million doesn't make much difference.

Daca Amnesty with “wall funding”. A bipartisian deal. Those always work out so well too. 1986.

Not exactly. In 1986, they promised to finance and build the wall if Reagan would sig the Amnesty for 3 million illegals. He did. They didn't. They got the permanent boost (3 million permanent Dem votes) in exchange for the temporary (and empty) promise.

Trump's offer gives them the temporary boost (DACA extended for a few paltry years, but not made permanent), while getting the permanent benefit (the wall).

Most of our ancestors came over as legal immigrants at a time when our nation had vast swaths of empty land on which people could settle.
The Dems can drown on their sinking ship if they go with what you say they should do.

Nothing bold about a sell-out. Amnesty, even for 800,000 people should be very steep price: Full funding of wall, legislated deporting of anyone entering or staying in US illegally (end catch-and-release), and mandate e-Verify. That'd be a good start at immigration reform.

AND NO SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS OR WORK PERMITS FOR ANYONE, INCLUDING DACA.

DACA protection for three years doesn’t equal amnesty.

The HOR sent the US Senate a 1 bil border security bill that has funding for the ports of entry and more immigration judges.

Do you have the bill number?
I would like to read it for myself.

Exactly right. Everyday the daca illegals spend in country is another day to crank out an anchor baby. I’d be surprised if any of them were sans a ‘mi Americano’

How do you figure? Giving them legal status, giving them work permits, AND GIVING THEM GOVERNMENT BENEFITS when the alternative is deporting them IS AMNESTY. Rewards criminal invasion of the US, incentivizes more people to do the same. And this giveaway is without full wall funding!!!

How about he uses the 10 billion additional taxpayer dollars for Mexico and central America instead of compromising. Im not saying it’s amneaty, but it’s amnesty.
