Pelosi was nuts to try to cancel the SOTU address. That was an entirely petty move that served no purpose other than to try a power play to elevate her to the stature of the President.

Trump responded by revoking her use of military aircraft. That reminded her that they are NOT Constitutionally "equal" as Pelosi said earlier, and thoroughly humiliated her in front of her entourage, the country, and the world.

With that move, Trump virtually assured that Pelosi (and Schumer dragged along with her) will harden their positions to the point where Trump looks reasonable and Democrats look irresponsible. Pelosi's left flank will seize on this to corner her into either going further left or stepping down as Speaker (not quickly, though).

All the while, the country will be watching this with an eye towards 2020. Yesterday's MSM disaster of the Buzzfeed report will but a temporary rein on them to be just a bit more cautious for awhile, at least until the Mueller report comes out.

If Trump pulls this off and gets Schumer to knock some sense into Pelosi, then with the successful confirmation of a new Attorney General as a tailwind, Trump might have a renewed strength as we move into the next crisis, which will be the retirement of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

It will be interesting to see how New England reacts to that.

POTUS said their mothers were giving them BCP. But, since I never commented on the issue I have to assume your post was intended for someone else.

n electronic layer consists of close-up surveillance systems, thermal cameras, land surveillance radar,...

None of that is effective unless backed up with live armed military patrols and quick-reaction forces dispersed along the barriers.

They will also need pre-approved authorization to use lethal force at the discretion of local commanders - and to fire across the border if they are attacked.

Do we want an effective wall or not?

Arthel is very ill informed and should not be an anchor on a national news network.

She probably got to the top using the "Tur Method" - by being on the bottom... ;-)

"I thought that all appropriation bills had to originate in the House."

You are correct.

Would appear President Trump was suggesting a 'shell' bill which Turtle could originate in the Senate then pass to the House for funding, then pass back. A rare bird, indeed. IF the House passed such a Senate 'shell' bill verbatim, it would not have to pass through a House Committee. To accomplish this is a fait accompli, literally NO ONE in the Senate or House could raise objection to such a package if the goal is to put it on the President's desk.

120% of the Democrat Media will lengthen the days to 30 hours and the weeks to 8 days so they can scream about it at the top of their lungs 30/8/365.

I see that there is still confusion about what “first generation” means. It’s the first generation to be born here. So there’s no such thing as a first-generation immigrant.

I think Trump’s speechwriter unintentionally excluded immigrants at one point.

Not that illegals are immigrants, but that’s another semantic issue.

By extending DACA and TPS by three years Pres. Trump stole the Dims wind for their political sails and made the Golden Bridge to retreat on a bit narrower and less golden.

He effectively stole their issue for three years, while looking very reasonable doing it.

Dims sure are stupid.

remote-controlled weapons systems would be effective - a few rounds expended would quell the most ardent “asylum” seeker.

ROE - free fire zone.

Of course we want - need - an effective wall, else why bother?

If we have the patrols, we don't actually need the wall except in certain high-volume crossing locations (i.e. San Diego/TJ or Mexicali/El Centro).

Without the patrols, the wall is just expensive decoration.

I thought President Trump looked and sounded excellent today. Articulate. Ideas sounded completely logical, kind, and doable to me.

Praying that goodness for all will prevail.

I am very thankful for his supreme court justices. In our local University of California hospital, in my city, they are doing late term abortions on any woman requesting them. (They started doing them for financial reasons. ) My patient had one at 24 weeks. Nothing wrong with the baby. Already had several abortions. I cannot understand why liberals are militant about abortion. They supposedly are the party for the weak. Quite the opposite.

Artel is saying she has never heard those statistics about young women taking birth control or 1/3 women being raped on these long journeys to the US or anyone reporting them either.

Maybe someone should ask her about the "rape trees".

Impeachment should, of course, have no effect on the SC nomination process.

Now tell that to the Democratic Party, ALL of the media (including Fox), and the 55% of the country that is brain dead.

It will be political warfare, with the impeachment becoming the cudgel they use to try to beat down the nomination. Of course they'll scream "racist!" at any nominee, but that's a dead horse. The usual "rape" charges will be pretty much a non-starter since RBG's replacement will very likely be a woman.

They have no other weapons left, so they will use impeachment and the media to try to derail any USSC action until after the next election. They are not going to just roll over.
