On the evening of Dec. 15, 2016, Dakota James called his friend Shelley in a panic.
He was cold, disoriented, and scared out of his mind, wandering the streets of downtown Pittsburgh, trying to find someone—anyone—who would help him.
“I don’t know where I am,” he told her, sobbing. “I’m so cold. Please help me. I’m lost.”
Shelley didn’t hesitate.
“I’m thinking, ‘Did he get mugged? Did he get beat up? Was he in a car accident?’” she told The Daily Beast this week. “I was so scared. I said, ‘Where are you?’ I’m coming.’”
“Pittsburgh’s North Side,” he told her.
She quickly hopped into her car to go get him, then remembered she could use her cellphone to figure out where he was because he’d enabled location services with her when she gave him a ride to the airport months ago.
That program was telling her he was on Pittsburgh’s South Side. But Dakota was texting her as she drove, trying to guide her. “I’m here,” he texted, sending a picture of a jean-covered leg. “Please help me. I’m so cold. The cops won’t help me.’”
Her phone’s location services told her he was at a Springhill Suites on Water Street in Pittsburgh’s South Side, not North. She texted him that with a question mark.

I don't know if there is a "there" there.
But I noticed this story on the Drudgereport today, and found the story once again interesting.
Just thought it was worth mentioning.

It is tough to make heads or tails out of this story.
But common denominators seems to be the date rape drug and the gay lifestyle.
In Boston young men have been found murdered or, in some cases “drowned”, during the past few years. I believe that these crimes have largely been unsolved.
From the headline I knew it had to be homosexuals.
They’re the only ones with that particular and intense interest in young males.
Pedophiles ultimately have to kill their victims to keep their secrets from coming out.

I had forgotten about that——I think they were all last seen in the area of The Boston Garden.

Did he call 911, flag down a passing patrol car or talk with a cop on foot patrol? There should be a record of any contact, if one was made.
The TV show “The Mentalist” the serial killer (from Wikipedia):
“As part of his criminal signature, Red John draws a smiley face on the wall with the blood of the victim...”
Probably where they got the idea.
I remember first hearing about this while listening to Coast to Coast years ago. Wikipedia has an article about it, too.
There have been at least 4 men who have been found in the same area of the river in Austin, TX. There’s some speculation it’s from a serial killer but the cops say nay.
Google the name Paulides David, Missing 411. There are deeply degenerate minds behind these murders, dead souls preying upon easy targets and exploiting them then murdering them. Many tries have failed, but these degenerates continue to select victims. My step son was nearly one of their statistics.
That would be David Paulides ... need coffee for the old brain.

Probably there are copycats, either of the show or of the murders.
There is also some dispute about whether all of these deaths had "smiley faces" associated with them.
Maybe unrelated "smiley faces" were found some distance away, or maybe there weren't any "smiley faces" and rumors just associated all drowning deaths with the legendary killer, or maybe somebody did start killing based on the show or the murders and rumors.
So it's all still a mystery.
They are doing a report on it tonight.

I have read about the “smiley face” murders before. We recently had an incident Austin that reminded me of it. Young man, intelligent, good-looking, personable was out with friends one evening. He was uncharacteristically involved in a telephone call, not socializing with the people he was out with. Then quickly left the venue and ran down the street. His body turned up in the river several days later.
It took a while, but the article finally revealed it.
The CDC says gay men are 4X more likely to be raped, 2.5X to experience violence from a partner, 5X more like to use drugs
There's no mystery.
