They must have learned from the nigerians who have experienced similar fates.

"idiot smoking a cigarette"

Years ago there was a FReeper that said smoking around gasoline (he was a smoker) was safe and that one could even extinquish a cigarette in a bucket of gasoline.

He was challenged to try it and get back to us.

He had not posted since.

” and that one could even extinquish a cigarette in a bucket of gasoline”

It is possible to ignite a pool of gasoline using only a cigarette.

partly plausible

“A cigarette has the potential to light a pool of gasoline but just doesn’t have enough sustained heat. Gas ignites between 500 °F and 540 °F, the cigarette at its hottest was between 450 °F and 500 °F but only when it was actually being smoked. An ignition is very improbable.”

Yet anyone with any IQ could see that what happened here was an extreme probability considering how many people were involved. Some one probably lit a lighter or caused a hot spark somehow.

That is part of the point in the challenge.

A smoker will not be without his lighter.

Liquid gasoline will not burn. But the gasoline in the video was highly aerialized and easily ignited.

Point is that smokers will always have their lighters to fire up their cigarettes.

Had a supervisor blown off a pump truck while we were pumping live oil on a location.

We always kept our distance from him, knowing he would the point of ignition.
