Circa 2010 the US Navy sent the USS George Washington Battle Group, with a separate Surface Action Group up into the Yellow Sea, within 250 miles of Beijing.
The Chinese didn't even send any fighters out to play.
It's important that the US Navy show the world, and China, that they do not have the guts or the capability to challenge the US Navy at sea.

Would make more sense to take the New Jersey out of mothballs and sail her through those international waters. She’d be a lot harder to sink.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

“within 250 miles of Beijing”
although I can see why China would be unhappy with this (as would we, were the situation reversed).
I want the world’s greatest military to defend the USA; but not to be the world’s policeman in all situations everywhere.

I think it’s more that we need to show China that it can’t designate large areas of the Pacific Ocean its inland waters and expect everyone to fall in line. The Chinese are welcome to send their ships to the vicinity of the continental US. But they never do, since we’ve never actually claimed anything outside of our 12-mile territorial waters as American territory.

A U.S. Navy Chief has no authority to release such information.

....and don’t forget our aircraft carriers travel with escorts. Send it through, the Chinese will threaten, watch it and take notes, our folks will be at battle stations.

It would be a good time to discuss import duties with Taiwan. They are killing us like every other Asian country. Put the screws to them. We are defending them while the screw us on trade.
On a positive note, if the ChiComs go hot then say good buy to any and all trade with them! Ha ha Free Traitors!!!!
