Likely Virginia and Maryland are in that mix.
This is broad impact beyond Federal workers in CA.
Maybe they should find a job where there is actually work to do, because there are currently 6.9 million job openings in the U.S.

So-called “unpaid” Federal workers SHOULD NOT get unemployment, since they will get BACK PAY, many if not most for not working, when the Fed.gov reopens. Any who HAVE gotten unemployment will need to PAY IT BACK when the Fed.gov reopens!

The workers are NOT unemployed, they are not being paid, but so far are not out of work.
Unemployment insurance doesn’t cover this situation... nothing surprising about this at all.
