You’d have never heard about their little European Vacation during a purported shutdown Crisis, had he not done this. Certainly, not from the press. Maybe Nancy could have stood in front of the NATO Headquarters and talked about the Bad Orange Man.
I saw first hand what I considered FW&A in the .mil, the “congressional junkets” always seemed to include everybody’s spouse & a brigade of straphangers. One episode we had to dedicate an entire CH47 helicopter that I know of, to transport all their shopping goodies & furniture alone, bedroom sets and all kinds of stuff they bought overseas. The public has no idea.
The government pays probably $4 a gallon for JP8 if they are lucky, a single Black Hawk alone costs about $1400 to fill up, that gives maybe 3 hours flight time, and we’d line up 7 or 8 of them etc etc.. I don’t know the burn rate for a CH47 but it’s a lot.
Note the president didn’t cancel, they can fly commercial there if they want. And ship their goodies home on their own dime.
Biggest goddamn bunch of crooks, and their enablers in the Press, it’s just absolutely unreal.
Most people could live for a year on just the liquor allowance for this trip

It strikes me that these ‘dm congressmen’ are happy to travel to Puerto Rico, and Belgium and Afghanistan on other peoples’ dime but when faced with paying for it themselves they disembark the bus and go home.
