The Atlantic calls for Trump impeachment in new cover story

The new issue of The Atlantic features a striking call for President Trump’s impeachment on its cover.

The cover story of the March 2019 issue was published online Thursday, along with an image of the magazine, which reads “IMPEACH” in large, red letters.

“It’s time for Congress to judge the president’s fitness to serve,” the subhead reads.

Atlantic senior editor Yoni Appelbaum pens the cover story, in which he argues that Congress can “rein in a president who is undermining American ideals” by starting the impeachment process, taking control of the fitness-for-office debate.

Congressional Democrats have so far largely quashed calls for impeachment, saying making the move would be premature and viewed as partisan overreach.

“If there's to be grounds for impeachment of President Trump — and I'm not seeking those grounds — that would have to be so clearly bipartisan in terms of acceptance of it before I think we should go down any impeachment path,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said earlier this month.

In The Atlantic piece, which is printed with the headline “The Case for Impeachment,” Appelbaum writes that Trump has “repeatedly trampled” on the Constitution, with his policies, approaches to the investigations surround his administration and attacks on political opponents.

“These actions are, in sum, an attack on the very foundations of America’s constitutional democracy,” he writes.

Appelbaum says that beginning the impeachment process as a way for Congress to take control of the allegations that Trump has committed offenses that may rise to the level of grounds for removal from office.

“With a newly seated Democratic majority, the House of Representatives can no longer dodge its constitutional duty,” Appelbaum writes. “It must immediately open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump, and bring the debate out of the court of public opinion and into Congress, where it belongs.”

Despite a lack of support on Capitol Hill, outside calls for Trump's impeachment have persisted. Billionaire Democratic megadonor Tom Steyer has led a multi-million dollar impeachment campaign that has included a number of television advertisements pushing for the measure.

Steyer announced earlier this month that he would not seek the presidency in 2020, and will instead pour an additional $40 million into his efforts this year.

STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE
Only recently, Monica Lewinsky came clean and made clear that a sitting President, Bill Clinton, suborned perjury from her.
An impeachable offense, for which he also could have lost his law license.

All of Clinton's crimes happened while he was a sitting president:
the 47 Oral Office visits from Monica; subornation of perjury, lying under oath, hush money, etc etc etc.

Clinton lied under oath about suborning Monica.
MORE EGREGIOUSLY.....Clinton even went so far as to have Lewinsky give Linda Tripp written instructions,
coaching Linda on how to properly perjure herself in the Willey matter. (Linda didnt buy it.)

===============================

THE LIST GOES ON AND ON: Bill's intimate pal, Vernon Jordan, arranged a $40,000-per-year cushy government job for Lewinsky shortly
after she signed ......but before she filed...... a falsified affidavit saying she had NOT had sex with the president.

As insurance, Clinton had another pal, his Ambassador to the United Nations, Bill Richardson,
personally visit Lewinsky at the Watergate to offer her a government job to shut her up.

==========================================

AND THIS---Attorney David Schippers was asked by his friend, Congressman Henry Hyde, to be Chief Investigative Counsel
for the US House Judiciary Committee. Schippers, a lifelong Democrat, accepted and took the job in April 1998.

The Hyde Committee was holding an inquiry on whether Clinton had committed impeachable offences in his handling
of the Paula Jones sexual harassment suit..... during which Clinton committed perjury regarding his affair with
Monica Lewinsky. The committee in December 1998 voted to impeach Clinton........a decision supported by Schippers.

On December 10, 1998, Schippers said to the committee: The President, then,
<><> has lied under oath in a civil deposition,
<><> he lied under oath in a criminal grand jury.
<><> he lied to the people,
<><> he lied to his Cabinet,
<><> he lied to his top aides,
<><> and now he's lied under oath to the Congress of the United States.
There's no one left to lie to."

======================================

AND THIS---Then-First Lady Hillary went hog wild with tax dollars. She set up what she called a "Bimbo Eruption Team" in the West Wing of the White House composed of tax-paid govt workers including then-Clinton aide George Stephanopolous....now at ABC-TV. The tax-paid West Wing office office operated for eight long years.....and did nothing but shoot down, demean, defame and lacerate any woman who dared surface about Bill's sexual activities.

These expenditures of tax dollars (A) saved Bill's presidency, (B) got Hillary elected to the US Senate, and (C) gave Hillary the prominence she needed to launch the rest of her political ambitions.

I look at this sort of thing which is now pretty standard and think how many people that will admit the WJC is a sociopath and a serial liar still believe Barrack O is a sanctified figure. Yesterday having a conversation with one of my wife's friends about ID fraud I mentioned how easy it was circa 1960 to80 or so to get multiple SSN’s and I knew people in college who did so as a lark. We discussed where this was possible and I said Hawaii was a notoriously loose place for SSN’s due to the slack way birth records were kept there. I merely mentioned the BHO likely got more than one and he possibly used them later in creating a legend that he was American born after pretending to be otherwise to get admitted as a foreign student. This person started screaming at me, literally screaming. Saying, and this is a quote “Do you know what you just said.” Stop it, we don't talk about such things in this house” I asked do you mean politics or what as this individual regularly remarks on the creepy local political scene. She shut up and would not say another word. I guess I will ask her husband if she or they think BHO is saintly figure or what. I know these RINO’s have been drifting left and don't like ‘racially oriented ‘remarks about the local living excrement.

Things must not be looking good for the Dems right now for this to start popping up. It’s like they’re saying, “Somebody do something right now!”
