A bomb attack claimed by Daesh killed two US troops and two civilians working for the US military in northern Syria on Wednesday, weeks after President Donald Trump said the group had been defeated there and that he would pull out all American forces, Reuters reports.
The attack appeared to be the deadliest on US forces in Syria since they deployed on the ground there in 2015. The town is controlled by a militia allied to US-backed Kurdish forces.
The US military confirmed four Americans were killed and said three US troops were wounded in the explosion.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said 19 people had been killed in all, including four Americans.
It was unclear what impact the blast might have on Trumps calculus after he confounded his national security team with a surprise decision last month to withdraw all 2,000 US troops from Syria, declaring Daesh had been defeated there.
No experts believe Daesh has been defeated, despite the group having lost almost all of the territory it held in 2014 and 2015 after seizing parts of Syria and Iraq and declaring a caliphate.
Trumps Dec. 19 announcement was one of the reasons his defence secretary, Jim Mattis, resigned. It stunned allies and raised fears of a long-threatened Turkish military offensive against US-backed Kurdish forces in northern Syria.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, often an ally for Trump, said he believed Daesh had been emboldened by the presidents decision to pull out of Syria and asked him to look long and hard at what he wants to do there.
My concern about the statements made by President Trump is that youve set in motion enthusiasm by the enemy were fighting, Graham said during a congressional hearing.

what a joke.
With friends such as Graham, we dont need enemies.
You could counter Linda’s remark with the argument that Trump was right in getting out of Syria and after the terrorists heard we might be staying longer made them do the bombing. He should just shut up.
John McCain lives on.
It’s obvious that both ISIS terroists and neocon trash like Linda try to keep American troops remain there.
RIP. Out of Syria, now !
It was not done by Daesh. But by Turk MiT.
Important Thread, Turkish MiT videos about making IED “sticky” bombs and IED.

On December 10, 2018, two video fragments leaked of a man instructing Turkey-backed Syrian rebels on how to use a sticky bomb and an IED. The source alleges that the man is working for Turkish intelligence apparatus MIT, nicknamed abu-Imad.

Thought of in terms of the activities we've embraced, we should be disgusted with our country's decision makers. President Trump didn't get out when he said he would. Now the warmakers have managed to get some of that blood on his hands.
Its time for our soldiers to come home as President Trump has decided.
Let the people in the area carry the fight to the dirty ISIS terrorists.
MOABs for everyone when we leave.
Senator Graham,
Doesn’t sending or maintaining troops in every place that might suffer a terrorist attack INCREASE the risk to our troops?
