Gee, that should make a lots of celebs happy when they have their Malibu and Newport Beach beachfront properties seized (Yeah right).
Maybe they can convert their “shacks” to houseboats.
To say this state is run by gangs of unelected boards and commission and idiots is not a stretch, by any means of your imagination.
The Disney State has gone to seed. Surf’s Up!!
Communist totalitarianism increases.
When Kalifornia and the Feds want your land, they’ll do whatever it takes to get it:

Silly. “Special considerations” will be available. For those that can afford them or have the, uh, “right” friends.
Illegals will be allowed to seek sanctuary by coming ashore along that 1,100 miles of coast.
How many farts
could a snail darter fart,
if a darter could fart darts?
Beaches move all the time. If they should lose 2/3(?) of their beaches, then new ones will be created.
If they can't guesstimate better than 1/3 of a whole that it isn't a study, its a PR blast.
Tell Barbra it’s for her own good.
(Rummaging through trunk) “There’s a yellow vest in here somewhere...”
The Coastal Commission has been doing this since the 70’s. This is nothing new. Only thing new are the addition houses in the Commission’s sights this time.
Acquire thousands of beachfront properties paying fair market value?
(Which is what Eminent Domain requires)
The cost would be enormous!
All those Malibu liberals will be screaming!..................
I would have no objection if California drew a projected high tide line based on its expectations of sea level rise, and then said it would not support any infrastructure development or storm rebuilding below that limit. Want a house on the beach? Fine. Go buy the land. Your money, your property, your risk. But you are on your own. No public access road, no public funds for utilities, etc.
We should have done this many years ago on the barrier islands on the East Coast. Don't take people's property. Just say that we're not going to throw good money after bad rebuilding after the next hurricane.
Then they can sell the property to the Chicoms for sub bases. This way CA can improve their budget and become a Chinese protectorate/colony.
I wonder if they start with Pebble Beach. The hotels will close and the remaining tourist industry will die.
Wouldn’t San Fran Bay also raise?
Down in Long Beach, the Queen Mary would be a good place to live.
California is run by gangsters.
Sorry, Babs we have to take your mansion because we think 80 years from now it will be 2 to 5 feet closer to the ocean. Just because the sea level has only risen 3 to 5 millimeters in the last 30 years which is within the margin of error, doesn’t mean that the ocean isn’t holding off for a 5 foot gain in the last 5 years before the end of the century. /s
