Am I mistaken or isn’t the date of the SOTU written in the governing docs of the USA?

No. The Constitution says that the President "...shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient..." The means and timing are not specified. Woodrow Wilson was the first president since Thomas Jefferson to present the State of the Union in person. Before that it was done in writing, usually sent in December.

Most presidents until the early 20th Century submitted the state of the union in writing, so there is that.

However, the Senate could invite Trump to give a state of the union address there, to be televised in front of the senators. The senate is not big enough to hold all of the house members, but who cares about them anyway.

That sounds like a great idea. Also, invite the person on the left slated to give a response. Then tie them up with “Security concerns” when they try to leave the White House. Delay the rebuttal and fluster the lefty.

BTW, if he does do the speech from the Oval Office, the following should be invited to stand around his desk or behind him if he’s using a podium:

Pelosi & McCarthy
McConnell & Schumer
Pence

If the Dems refuse to come, that sends one very negative message. If they do show up, the optics should be very entertaining .... Pelosi & Schumer again, trying to look dignified & neutral. Pelosi’s face will be twitching, lips pursed, looking like bad Botox & Schmucky will look evil. Win-win for Trump, whichever way it goes & he always tries to be in a win-win position.

"Better yet, find a very big stadium and invite the American people to a state of the union speech"

How bout if he gives his address as planned from the House Chamber in front of whoever shows up? If the dems don't show, they will be seen as not wanting to help attend the problems of the nation. Trump could have cardboard cutouts made of Pelosi, etc and place them there. THAT would be a riot! LOL!

Wow, if she thinks this makes the Dem leadership look any better, she has dementia.

The president should politely decline her advice and plan to address the joint chambers. Make Pelosi refuse to admit him if she is so inclined. This childish act will reverberate off the walls even louder than the Kavanough hearings.

Giving Trump another opportunity to address the nation. She may secretly be working for Trump, as she is doing a whole lotta stuff that is making the Democrats look stupid.

Yes, 75,000 people to attend his SOTU, that'd be historic. Imagine, "Hello everyone! Normally presidents give their state of the union in the House. This year, Democrats have shut down the government, have stuck their heads into the ground, asked me to skip the SOTU. Despite the rude disrespect to our nation's traditions, this is not bad idea as they wouldn't listen anyway. So, thank you for coming today, wow what a HUUGE crowd! Let' me give you, the American people, our state of the union..."

And since in a speech in a stadium, no Democratic response. Let them stew on that.

Split screen, the Republicans in the chambers listening to the State of Union and the Democrats on the beaches in PR playing Shenanigans with local bikini-clad women.

“President Trump should do it anyway”

Absolutely. It will be his most widely heard commercial for the border wall. That’s why Pelosi wants it squelched.
