Democrats boycott White House border security meeting

Congressional Democrats on Tuesday rejected President Trump's invitation to a lunch meeting at the White House to discuss border security, in the latest sign that both sides of the government shutdown standoff remain entrenched in their positions with no compromise in sight.

A senior administration official told Fox News that the president had invited Democrats to join his lunch with members of Congress in the Roosevelt Room shortly after noon. But moments before the session, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement that nobody took them up on the offer.

"The President has a proposal on the table that includes additional technology at ports of entry, allows minors from Central America to seek asylum in their home country, and physical barriers between ports of entry made of steel instead of concrete," she said. "Today, the President offered both Democrats and Republicans the chance to meet for lunch at the White House.

Unfortunately, no Democrats will attend. The President looks forward to having a working lunch with House Republicans to solve the border crisis and reopen the government.

"It’s time for the Democrats to come to the table and make a deal."

If they’re not attending, it sounds like an opportunity to craft some surprises for them.

He ought to secretly draft a troll proposal that drops his demand for wall funding and gives the Dems everything they want, and then invite them to another meeting.

When they don’t show, he could then reveal the proposal and show America what they rejected in refusing to negotiate.

Nope, not yet. Let the shutdown last a full thirty days and then start wholesale RIF.

Yep.

RIF = governmentese for "Layoff" - and after 30 days of a shutdown, it CAN be done.

Reduction in Force

Time for the RNC or some political action groups to start blanketing the country with ads. Ads with Democrats in their own words demanding a wall and condemning illegal immigration. TV, radio, mailers, internet windows.

Congressional Democrats on Tuesday rejected President Trump's invitation to a lunch meeting at the White House...

Maybe they found out the White House was going to serve left over fast food from the Clemson visit?

The RIF rules were written for the idea that you’d never reach a 30-day period of zero budget. They never anticipated a Trump-like guy would arrive and do this.

My guess is that on day 30 (plus one)....they send out RIF notices to 100 DC employees to test the waters. Any federal judge attempting to stop it...will probably invoke ‘Full-scale-Trump’ and 5,000 RIF notices in a matter of seven days...basically telling the judges that these folks are gone and you can stall as much as you want but they won’t ever be able to return to their old job.

Nancy may think that the judges can prevent this but the RIF rules were custom-built to fit this type of situation. Thirty-plus days of furlough open the door. All judges can do is stall the end-result....making the idiot government worker think he can get a reprieve when the law says ‘no waiver’. All of this will fall back on Nancy and Chuck.
