Trump administration doubles estimate of shutdown cost to economy

President Donald Trump's administration now estimates that the cost of the government shutdown will be twice as steep as originally forecast.

The original estimate that the partial shutdown would subtract 0.1 percentage point from growth every two weeks has now been doubled to a 0.1 percentage point subtraction every week, according to an official who asked not to be named.

The official asked not to be named because employees are prohibited from doing government work on furlough. “It’s a little more complicated this time compared to similar events in the past,” the BEA official said, “because some data providing agencies are open, while others are closed. Once we are back up and running, we will complete our evaluation and publish a revised press release schedule for all of our economic indicators.”

Just shows Pelosi saying she will not support the wall because of the cost is just another lie.

Hey Democrats, end your shutdown!!! You all were in favor of a wall/border security a few years ago. Your current anti-Trump tantrum is hurting the 800,000 who need a paycheck. How about paying them and withholding salary pay of all congress members, their staffs, their per diem, their travel allowance, their meal allowance, their perks, until the shutdown ends?

How does temporarily not paying for non essential services cost the economy money? If spinny rims sales go down it will be made up for in liquor and tobacco sales

“Employees are PROHIBITED from doing government work on furlough”

Why would that be a reason to not identify the “source”?— they aren’t doing GOVERNMENT work.... they are doing DEMONRAT work as a fabricating source.

How exactly would NBC “fact check” this “furloughed” worker (who is bitter because he can’t finance his boat on the Chesapeake, or its insurance now he’s not getting paid. Stupid leftie).

If handled with enough work and courage, the shutdown could save us from a debt collapse and usher in a new conservative paradigm throughout society.
