Early Voting and Other Changes to Election Laws Are Coming to New York
New York Times ^ | Jan. 10, 2019 | Jesse McKinley

For years, the ways in which voters in New York have been stymied by the state’s antiquated voting laws have stood in stark contrast to the state’s liberal reputation.

During last year’s contentious midterm elections, New York was the only state in the nation that held separate state and federal primary elections, a bifurcation that almost seemed designed to suppress voter turnout — which is generally thought to favor incumbents.

Early voting? Voting by mail? Same-day voter registration? All are fairly basic voting policies now found in many states, but not in New York.

But with Democrats now in control of both chambers of the State Capitol and the governor’s office, things are about to change. Legislative leaders said they intend to pass what they described as a voting reform package on Monday to overhaul the state’s voting laws, among the more restrictive in the nation.

The proposals are a veritable wish list for those who have blamed New York’s laws for driving down voter turnout. The measures include allowing early voting, preregistration of 16- and 17-year-olds and consolidating state and federal primary elections, which are now held in different months. […]

“This is just the beginning,” said Senator Michael Gianaris of Queens, the deputy Democratic leader in the Senate. “There’s a long list of issues that have been kept on the shelf by Republicans all these years. And the issues we’re handling in the first week are incredibly important, and there will be incredibly important issues in the second week and the third week and the fourth week.” …

Early voting and same-day voter registration...hmmm...perfect for VOTING FRAUD. What a coincidence, that NEW YORK wants to make it much easier to commit voter fraud and have illegals vote, too. Whole state is making a slow spiral around the porcelain bowl, which has speeded up lately.

Actually this is something we may be able to combat.

There is an existing court decision that it is not acceptable to take pictures of voters at the polls, but it is not really a constitutional requirement that pictures can not be taken -- modern cameras did not exist at the time of the framing.

A law mandating a full face picture in order to vote in any federal election would go a long way toward combating all kinds of fraud. With modern facial recognition software this would eliminate the need for picture ID and would remove any criticism by the usual suspects that it is "racist" to require something that might represent even a slight barrier to the poor. No one is going to come to the polls without his/her face.

And instead of handing out absentee ballots by mail, make it a requirement that one pick them up in person.

I am very tired of having my legitimate vote negated by illegal votes...

And just how are the Democrats going to accommodate any of that?

And you think this would happen in New York? Corruption capital of the East Coast? Do you think Cuomo, DumblASSio, et al would allow any means whatsoever to ruin the illegal vote fiesta they think they're setting in place with these new more liberal requirements? Think again.

Hard to cram enough cheating into 12 or 13 hours on one day.

Same-day voter registration should be outlawed.

With social media, you could organize thousands of people to go to any polling place to vote.

After the election, the loser could claim all the votes needed to be counted.

There would be thousands of invalid votes to be counted and tossed.

In doing so it would cast doubt on the election.

Democrats want same day registration/voting to throw elections into chaos.

85% of early voting is done by illegals. Fully a third of absentee ballots are filled out in and mailed from Democrat Party offices, using the info of dead people on the voter rolls. Nobody does a thing.

Sadly only the death penalty will stop Democrats from voter fraud. Cheating is in their DNA.

Because it controlling the legislature and governorship isn’t enough. They need to make sure that the republicans never again win another election, just like California.

Are they adding “buddy voting” like California as well?

Didn’t dig that deep into the article. But nothing surprises me. “Jungle primaries” might even be considered.

Scumbags will make it easier for them to keep the State Senate, which would give them a free reign to gerrymander the NY GOP to total irrelevance and cost us more US House seats.

I agree though with ending the absurd separate primaries for federal and state offices.

We need federal legislation outlining a US wide system that applies to all states to use for federal elections. Specifying who can vote. Requiring citizenship documentation and local in house to house precinct residency verification registration . Performed by bi-partisan canvassed confirmation. And No provisional, mail in, or same-day ballot issuance permitted. .
