Lot of defense of pot smoking on this thread.

And an equal amount of reefer madness.

For the record.

Irishjuggler; The suspect shot the cop to death for no reason at all, except he smoked pot as it makes people crazy. And pot smokers are not as violent in the heavy pot smoking city of SF compared to other cities in the Midwest, south etc, because they have more $$ in SF and those other cities have more black folk!

Thanks for that!☺

Yes, I’m saying that there’s a good chance that his delusions about being bombarded by radio waves were caused by marijuana. And those delusions were the source of his animus toward the police.

Maybe he didn't like cops because they made him surrender his AR-15 without compensation and then put him on a list that prohibited him from owning firearms?

And were not talking about Oakland, St. Louis, or Hogjaw Kansas. The poster was talking about SF.

That's not what your question specified. You said "other crime rates"...which I assume would be all other crime.

why is the murder rates and other crime rates so low compared to other cities in the Midwest, South and other regions?

And it's pretty high on the list for violent crime as well...Number 31 of ALL the cities in America. In California ONLY Oakland (right next door) and Stockton have higher violent crime rates. So potheads are violent too!

Wait a minute, if heavy pot smoking SF, which has the heaviest pot smokers in the U.S. according to the poster, why is it only 31 in crime? Why not number #1 if pot makes people crazy and want to murder?

What’s up with that?

Oh, and for murder it’s number 48. For comparison, LA (with 4 times the population) is number 42. So it’s not exactly a murder free paradise.

CA doesn’t even keep criminals in jail & we have downgraded most crime to misdemeanors, so not likely the police are going after “strange” phone calls.

No fair...you're changing the argument. You tried to put forth the notion that San Fran is a relatively crime free city even though it's populated by potheads. I showed you that's not right. It's one of the most crime ridden cities in the USA overall. Number 31 in violent crime of EVERY place in America. There's ONLY 30 places in all or America where you're MORE likely to be a victim of violent crime.

There’s a handy chart that you can sort to see any crime rate in any city.

Don’t think his head will clear. He is dead from self inflicted shot to the head.

Most nut cases are not born but cases. It’s called drug-induced psychosis. How much weed did this guy smoke? What other drugs did he abuse?

You’re welcome. I’d only amend it to say that he PROBABLY is a pot head. As I said, 90% chance.

Is this accurate?

More or less accurate, yes. You’re kind of over-selling the “no reason at all” thing. He may have had a predisposition to mental illness, etc. But do I think there’s a 90% chance he’s a pot user? Yes, based on his paranoid delusions about being bombarded with radio waves. And as to the violent crime, I specifically mentioned black folks with respect to the homicide rate. As another poster pointed out, SF actually does have a fair amount of violent crime. The city’s homicide rate specifically has trended down to a 50-year low, as the black population has trended down to a 50-year low. Not politically correct to say it, but true.

Thanks for the statistics!

According to your source, Dallas Texas has significant higher per capita murder rates than the big pot smoking city of San Francisco?

How do you explain that?
