How low wage would a contractor be if they will be contracted regardless of fee?

contractors in the private sector risk bankruptcy and cancelled contracts. Those who contract with the government don’t have the same level of risk of bankruptcy, but exchange it for politically related risk.

“Democrats are struggling to come up with a way to provide back pay for low-wage contractors losing income because of the partial shutdown”

Fund the Wall.

Dims don’t seem to care much about low-wage workers whose wages are depressed by illegal foreign invaders.

Fund the wall and the money will flow.

Democrats are telling these low information contractors that Democrat obstruction is not the problem.

My girlfriend’s brother is one of these contractors.

He’s mildly retarded and works as a janitor at the Bureau of Standards.

He’s almost 60yo and has been enjoying his time off :)

Contractors really lose money during shutdowns.

I wonder if Departments who funnel Government money to Leftist organizations were deliberately left in the unfunded 25%, to starve them of funds. Make them layoff all their shadow campaign workers and front groups?

That might make the Dems squeal and deal.

RE: Dems struggling to help low-wage contractors harmed by shutdown

Simple solution, tell Nancy Pelosi to approve the $5 Billion for the Wall. How hard is that?

Anytime I see the word “dem” and “struggling” in the same sentence, I get all kind of giddy and happy.

Government workers are normally immune from the stress of economic ups and downs. EVERYONE struggles but Washington DC and Government workers.

I think it’s high time they felt some economic pain. It still isn’t close to what folks in private sector suffer. They will NOT lose a job and will be paid for time missed.

In other words, the illegal alien contractors who are undercutting their American competition, one of the reasons we need the wall. The Democrats are on the foreigners’ side against the vital interest of low-wage Americans.

Let me get this straight...

3.7 million contractors
Let’s say they’re able to figure out paying 3/4 of them

2.775 million contractors

The average yearly wage is $52,775
https://www.indeed.com/salaries/Government-Contractor-Salaries
Two weeks pay = $2030

$2030 x 2.775M = $5.63 billion

Conclusion: 2 weeks of paying people for nothing costs more than the Wall

It’s called ‘unemployment compensation.’

Years ago I worked for a small business (first job) & every year at Christmas they would lay EVERYONE off for two weeks, no pay. Back then you had to be unemployed for at least one week to qualify for benefits. We all filed & got at least some money for the 2nd week.

If this goes on for a while, I’m sure they’re all eligible.
