If the MD asks me that question I will tell him that any answer I give is protected by HIPPA. He asked me as a medical professional so it is a medical question. Sharing that information with anyone, including the government, is a crime and will be acted upon in civil court.
My understanding was that HIPPA does not apply to fedgov.
