According to Levin, Reagan declared several emergencies under the law that Trump could invoke. Seems a lot of NeverTrumpers are showing their true openborders colors. They arent opposed to unilateral presidential action that sends troops to, say, Syria. But they dont want border protection at home.

CNN: Here are the 28 active national emergencies.
George W. Bush declared 13 emergencies and Barack Obama declared 12 -- nearly all of which are still active today. Bill Clinton declared 17 national emergencies, six of which are still active. Ronald Reagan declared six and George H.W. Bush declared four -- but all of those have been revoked by now.
List of 28 still-active emergencies at link.

We have about 31 current "national emergencies" underway. Some get "renewed" annually to provide "cover" for actions without getting Congress involved.

FDR became a de facto dictator on the basis of a declared “national emergency” and no one says a word about it. The reaction simply depends on who declares the national emergency.
