Massachusetts a breeding ground for the worst
The Boston Herald ^ | 11 January 2019 | Howie Carr

Posted on 01/11/2019 8:05:38 AM PST by Hemingway's Ghost

Doesn’t it sometimes seem like almost every sanctimonious jerk in politics and the left-wing media has some kind of connection to Massachusetts?

The commonwealth has become a magnet for a hugely disproportionate number of America’s most obnoxious know-it-alls — they’re not all natives, but so many of the nation’s most insufferable idiots have spent time here, and they all have one thing in common: They’re smarter, more moral and just generally better than the rest of us, and they want to inform us of their superiority 24/7, whether we want to hear about it or not.

This state has turned out more jokers than the old Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College in Sarasota ever dreamed of.

It’s amazing. Normal people come here, to go to college or on vacation or make a movie or something, and they suddenly devolve into … Kennedys.

As the unofficial apologist for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, thank you for not erecting a wall around US, my fellow countrymen. I know we have issues. Some of us are here behind enemy lines, doing what we can...

What do you mean “become”? They’ve been this way since 1619.

You might be right about the year those Johnny Come Lately’s finally arrived several years after America’s roots were set down in Jamestown.

They’ve been insufferable ever since they got here.

It's gotta be something in the water. Seriously, I've been to Boston and out on the Cape. Some nice areas, but even though I was just visiting, I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. The smugness was too effing much.

Yesterday I bought several items at an electronics store in Cambridge (yes,*that* Cambridge).I was paying for my items and the clerk asked if I wanted a bag and I said "yes".Then she said "so a 5 cent charge is OK?" Slightly amazed,I said "a 5 cent charge?"...and her reply,in a somewhat bemused tone, was "it's Cambridge".

Howie Carr is correct...Massachusetts is now among the filthiest states in the nation...right up there with Kalifornia,Nuevo York and Maryland.

And to those of you in doubt I,a lifelong resident, can assure you that it wasn't always this way.

The Kennedy’s alone should damn the state forever - or longer. :-)
Throw in Kerry and Lies-a-Lottus and we should triple the sentence.
There are plenty of good folks in MA, but they’d better start getting rid of progressives in any way possible. Stat.
Any way possible.

Oh, and keep MIT, but bomb, burn, and bury Harvard, which has totally lost any luster it had.

You obviously haven't figured out that we *are* superior to you!

My long departed Dad worked for a well known company that was just chock full of MIT and Harvard grads. And although he never went to either institution he had many of those grads reporting to him.He always used to express admiration for the MIT grads...but not so much for the Harvard grads. He used to say "you can always tell a Harvard man,but you can't tell him much".

I used to live in CT, and MA is worse that CT. Lived in NY, FL, WA, and CA. MA is so smug.

New question:

Beside National Lampoon, name something that came from Harvard that really benefited everyone. They produce a lot of politicians, and they produce a lot of bankers and traders.

Maybe their medical school? I know they have a School of Divinity, and you can only imagine what comes out of that cave of bats.

One of the few good things about being from New York City is that it's easy for us to put those condescending "Massholes" in their place.

For the life of me, I could never understand why such self-righteous, arrogant people could have such a major inferiority complex when it comes to New York.

Many of us Deplorables behind enemy lines (NY, NJ, MA, CA) spend lots of bandwidth on FR and elsewhere, explaining that there are a variety of reasons why we're not in Texas or some other deep red state. Maybe it is family, maybe it is a job, maybe it is some situation not within our control. It doesn't mean we are purple RINOs or that we're gun grabbers or abortion lovers.

Indeed, I'd venture to say that BECAUSE we're surrounded by statists of every stripe - left and right - we possibly have a better appreciation for liberty and why it is important to fight for it when you've got it. Further, at the risk of sounding pompous, there are actually some pretty cool things in these areas: Manhattan and Boston are pretty awesome places, the diners in NJ are top-notch, and a drive I once took in San Luis Obispo along the coastline was one of the most beautiful drives I ever had.

I heard of people in the 1930s and 1940s in Nazi-occupied territories fighting the enemy, getting captured, and then upon escaping not running away but going BACK to their home and fighting. To be sure, we're not at that point in the US and I'm not putting us on the same level as those heroes...but I'd like to think that a few Deplorables in occupied territories probably have more impact on the margins than people think. Will our states go Red in 2020? Maybe not. But then nobody thought Trump could turn PA Red. Ya gotta believe.
