Did he reject sharia in public and on record?
If not—throw the terrorist prone “american” out pronto.
And the beast he rode on.
If so—he should be warily welcomed.
Something tells me there’s more to this than just his religion. For example, does he support ANYTHING that Trump supports?
why do they claim that the only reason was because he was a muslim? I don’t trust the journalists
I trust that those voting know the man best. Being part of a flawed religion is a big problem, but many people have big problems and having a big problem doesn’t always mean that an individual isn’t the right man for the job.
And if those voting make a stupid decision, it is primarily theirs to live with.
They just keep filtering in....
Good point, on average I’d take a muslim over a journalist.
Oh, it’s all fun and games until someone loses their head.....................
I don’t. The GOP-e is just like the Democratic Party. Tarrant County seems to have a RINO problem, from what I’m seeing online.
And no, it’s not those that vote who need to live with the decision if it’s the wrong one, but their constituents.
If the constituents have a problem with the decisions made, then they need to get their acts together.
If you don’t like that system and are really concerned about Tarrant County, you can see if you can get yourself made king.
That would only be taqiyya.
Enemy islam advances.
What do you hear this man talk about?
Has he openly, publicly repudiated and abandoned Sharia?
Do you hear him openly, publicly endorse the President's general scope of policy and Governor Abbots?
Islam means submission.
Every muslim has a religious obligation to force us to submit.
Texas GOP is submitting.
Thank George W. Bush and Rick Perry for your sharia.
Muslims aren’t a problem until they are the majority, and they congregate like flies. Then let’s see how many Christians they allow to hold office. Minority Christians are fortunate to be allowed to live and pay the jizya, a tax they pay for that privilege.
Remember clock boy? His city, which proactively banned Sharia courts, borders Tarrant County.
Be It Resolved: The GOP should expand beyond tribal boundaries.Lots of twisting and turning to justify a position.
Because Dr. Shafi is Muslim, he has been invited to and attended public events which are sponsored and attended by all stripes of Muslim folks. The appointment has attracted unwanted attention, and a motion to remove Dr. Shafi from his position.
Though Dr. Shafi is well-known to many people in the NE corner of Tarrant County, I did not know him when he was appointed, and most of the folks in the executive committee (which comprises all the countys precinct chairs), did not know him. That means I and many others have an automatic knee-jerk negative reaction. And that is not racist or bigoted. There are plenty of good people for jobs like that who are known to the body, so why go get an unknown unless it is to deliberately make some sort of point? [ ]
[P]utting someone who is not of my tribe in a leadership position is a much trickier question. Policy and emphasis on what issues are addressed will change when we put someone from a different background in office. People from other parts of the world are often far more communitarian in their outlook, and more naturally adopt policies that a native Texan would question. [ ]
One must remember that one of our ongoing needs in the political world is to seek and promote moderate voices from the Muslim world. Those who have sought to remove Dr. Shafi have taken the position that all Muslim folk are sleeper cells, designed to lull us into accepting them as freedom-loving so they can slowly take over and implement Sharia. This view is not completely without basis. Paris today is far less safe than it was a couple of years ago when I visited than it was the first time I visited in 1983, and the change is due mostly to areas of the city where militant Muslims dominate. Thus, I must explicitly reject the assertion that anyone disagreeing with my positions on this matter is a bigot. Rational people can disagree on this issue.
The problem with this view is that it assumes all of Islams adherents have adopted Wahhabism, believing in the convert-or-die approach. But not every Muslim believes that no more than every Christian wants to stone homosexuals.
Here are the facts. I have never had any association with the Muslim Brotherhood nor CAIR nor any terrorist organization. I believe that the laws of our nation are our Constitution and the laws passed by our elected legislatures I have never promoted any form of Sharia Law. I fully support and believe in American Laws for American Courts. I support our Second Amendment rights unconditionally, and I believe in the sanctity of life from conception onwards. I believe in small government, lower taxes, individual responsibility, religious freedom, school choice, energy independence, rule of law, and secure borders. For five years in a row, as a City Councilman, I have voted to reduce property taxes in Southlake. I also support Israels right to exist. [ ]The second paragraph I quoted was interesting because it seems to contradict his earlier statements, and it is full of Democratic/RINO religion of peace-like platitudes.
I believe that much of the hate against Muslims is driven by a fear of terrorism. I understand these fears and I stand together with Americans of all faiths to protect our Nation. I took the oath to preserve and protect the Constitution and the laws of the United States when I became a citizen in 2009. I did it again each time I was elected to the City Council of Southlake in 2014 and 2017. I have always upheld my oath with honor and dignity. A nation divided by hate and fear makes us weaker, and our enemies stronger.
And here I thought there were real men in Texas. Political islam is an anethma to the US Constitution. This is not religious freedom.
In Islam, the perfect example of how to live oness
life is Mohammeds. Mohammed is the ideal. For a while he was peaceable, then he was a brutal murderer and pedophile. This man, may not be bad, but the precedent is now set. Fools.
It’s the GOP responding to the challenge of Beto.
There are also RINOs and Democrats in Texas. Tarrant County’s county seat is Fort Worth.
There’s no reason to presume that Mahomet by nature at one time was peaceful. A peaceful self-proclaimed prophet would never have amassed followers and turned to violence once his power had grown in numbers and physical resources. The Koranic “Mecca verses” are peaceful, since the message being proclaimed thereof was intended to proselytize by such means, but words are merely words.
