The democrats will now try to use the next selection, as a pawn to agreeing with the wall etc. I sure hope Trump stands firm, as Roberts is not a conservative judge.

Does anyone here see Trump softening his stance on SCOTUS nominations? I see absolutely no reason for him to select a liberal judge at this point.
The dems will never agree to the wall, so that one's dead, and they have no way of stopping Trump from nominating whom he wants. But just for the hell of it, he could say... "give me $100 billion for the wall and offset it with cuts in social spending, and I'll give you Merrick Garland... to replace Stephen Breyer when he goes."
Of what I have seen of his list the “liberal” judge was Kavanaugh. The next one (a woman!) is very old Constitutional School. Remember the Federalist Society helped him put this list together.
