Full title........Sen. Marco Rubio warns Trump a border emergency could embolden a future Dem president on climate change
A national emergency declaration by President Donald Trump over border security could wind up hurting Republicans, GOP Sen. Marco Rubio told CNBC on Wednesday.
The Florida Republican contended that Trump was elected on the promise of building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and the president has to keep that promise. But we have to be careful about endorsing broad uses of executive power, he added. Im not prepared to endorse that right now.
Such a declaration would set a precedent, Rubio said. If today, the national emergency is border security ... tomorrow the national emergency might be climate change. Declaring a national emergency, which would certainly face legal hurdles, could give Trump the ability to use the military to build the wall instead of getting Congress to approve the funding for it.

...and with all due respect, your endorsement is not constitutionally required, either.
NEWSFLASH: They’ll do it regardless...... Time to make hay.
A ‘full throated’ conservative.

National climate emergency: Ban all gasoline vehicles. That’ll fly.
..... Hey ..... Rube .... One Apocalyptic Crisis at a time Marco .....
Little Marcos is a coward in the first degree.
Nah, bad analogy.
A wall is Constitutional authorized under ART 4.
(Maybe Trump had the CIA organize these ‘caravans’ to emphasize the “invasion” aspect? LOL!)
Might be valid analogies. Nut they’ll happen anyway- and with the media’s support if their advertisers want it.
I would suggest that any Democrat considering doing that first consult with Emmanuel Macron.
Global warming after 2024, the end of Trumps second term, will have been proven more fraudulent than ever, so that wont be an issue there, Micro Rubio.
I can’t believe people wanted him for President
That could ‘win the thread’!
Remember Mr. Gang of Eight?
Obama managed to implement most of his programs without Congressional vote or approval. He violated openly whatever laws he found inconvenient especially existing immigration and drug laws. A President has the power to implement his policies, despite Congressional opposition, via executive order and discretion when they feel strongly about an issue. In the case of a wall Trump is making the case that there is a political consensus in the country for border security and is cleverly isolating the Democrats. If a future Democratic President wants dramatic climate change measures(which will involve taxes, international agreements and economy contracting regulations), he will also need a political consensus to act if Congress does not legislate.
See if they bring a legal challenge now. Let their own pinko judges box them in.
Still part of the Gang of 8.
Attention foamboy:
If the wall isn’t built, NO republican will ever be elected again. The end of America as we know her. A thousand years of darkness. Texas and your ‘home’ state of Floriduh are on the verge of turning blue. It may already be too late.
Thanks for opening your yap and being a retard.
Looks like the midget vote is in jeopardy.
Like Harry Reid on the nuclear?
I would much rather force the dims to political capitulation.
It would be a more pleasurable way to get the wall.
