A 47-year-old parolee has been arrested in connection with the weekend shooting at a crowded bowling alley that left three men dead and four others wounded, Torrance police announced Monday, Jan. 7.
Police Chief Eve Irvine said Reginald Wallace was quickly identified with video footage and by witnesses as the gunman who opened fire on more than a dozen people fighting late Friday night at Gable House Bowl on Hawthorne Boulevard, a popular hangout and South Bay institution.
Wallace was taken into custody after 4 a.m. Sunday by Torrance police and SWAT officers at 4th Street and Western Avenue in Los Angeles, police said. He is being held without bail, jail records show.
At this time, we believe we have the sole shooter in this incident, Irvine said at a Monday afternoon news conference at Police Department headquarters.
Irvine declined to say whether police found the handgun, what caliber it was or how Wallace obtained it. He was released from prison in 2017 after serving 17 years for a conviction for an assault with a deadly weapon with a firearm, police said.
Court records show Wallace was acquitted of attempted murder in the December 1998 case and sentenced to 21 years behind bars. The year before, he pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm in a school zone and was sentenced to two years in prison.

A person on parole cannot carry a gun...I guess this guy did not care...
I am glad that the suspect has been caught...
At this time, police is not sure what the motive for shooting was...
The Amish again!
Gable House WAS one of the nicest places to bowl in the area. One of my son’s favorite places to go bowling. Not any more.
Good thing it was illegal for him to have a gun. If gun ownership wasn’t so constrained in California, someone might have gotten hurt by him.
Yes, it was nice back in the day, but then, so was much of Southern California.
Imagine, a criminal breaking the law, with no regard for anyone around him yet.
Obviously need to make it impossible for me to use a firearm to defend myself and my good company from law breakers like this. That will fix it!
This should never have happened, as CA and LA have already made it illegal for me to do so. But when I lived in LA, I CARRIED ANYWAY. BCC = Law breaker.
Can’t argue with that. There are still nice areas though, but they are islands in a sea of trash.
I grew up in SoCal back in the 50s. There are YouTubes showing what it looked like. I know I sound old, but it was wonderful back then. Now, not so much.
Parolee.
If he had been a federal inmate, would he have qualified for Trump’s “First Step” early release program?
Reginald= black.
