“In fact, a spokeswoman for WalletHub says, California has the 12th worst school system in America.”
I am surprised that it is’t lower. I grew up in the East Bay in the 1950’s and 60’s. At that time the high school from which I graduated had the distinction of sending one of the greatest percentages of its graduates to The University of California and Stanford (I graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Berkeley in 1965). At that time, there were four Engineering Schools that were considered the best, Cal, Cal Tech, Stanford and MIT (three out of four in California wasn’t too bad). I can honestly say that growing up where I did was a choice experience, but that’s all gone today.
vette, sounds like Albany Ca. My lady friend’s kid went to Acalanes High Lafayette which was not bad either. I attended a high school in NJ where the graduation class in 63 had a 90+ percentage college admission rate. Not the same place today.
