The Dry Alabama Facebook page, illustrated with stark images of car wrecks and videos of families ruined by drink, had a blunt message: Alcohol is the devils work, and the state should ban it entirely.
Along with a companion Twitter feed, the Facebook page appeared to be the work of Baptist teetotalers who supported the Republican, Roy S. Moore, in the 2017 Alabama Senate race. Pray for Roy Moore, one tweet exhorted.
In fact, the Dry Alabama campaign, not previously reported, was the stealth creation of progressive Democrats who were out to defeat Mr. Moore the second such secret effort to be unmasked. In a political bank shot made in the last two weeks of the campaign, they thought associating Mr. Moore with calls for a statewide alcohol ban would hurt him with moderate, business-oriented Republicans and assist the Democrat, Doug Jones, who won the special election by a hair-thin margin.
Matt Osborne, a veteran progressive activist who worked on the project, said he hoped that such deceptive tactics would someday be banned from American politics. But in the meantime, he said, he believes that Republicans are using such trickery and that Democrats cannot unilaterally give it up.

This is straight up fraud and ought to be prosecuted as such, with additional charges for election interference.
“This is straight up fraud and ought to be prosecuted as such,”
Yeah, too bad we don’t have an AG willing to prosecute anyone on the democrat side. I expected that crap from Holder and Lynch.
While Democrats and Mueller are looking for mythical evidence Trump colluded with Russia to steal the election, Democrats were actually using underhanded methods to influence the Alabama Roy Moore election. ................................
Projection; what communists/Democrats do.
I don’t know where this story is going, but it wont matter much in 2020. Mo Brooks will be running as the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate and will easily defeat the Democrat Incumbent Jones. Bet on it!

” Mo Brooks will be running as the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate and will easily defeat the Democrat Incumbent Jones. Bet on it!”
Good! Mitch shivved him during the primaries. The Turtle hates Mo, and sabotaged him, intending Strange (ugh) to win. Even talked Trump into endorsement. AL people saw threw it, too late to save Mo, but voted against Strange anyway via Moore. But couldn’t turn out again. Or wouldn’t.
Moore was a hard guy to rally behind. He killed himself during the Hannity live radio interview. That did it.
But Mo is GREAT!!!
It is fraud, and should be illegal.
Both the NYT and the WaPo are going with this story today. Surprising.
Bump
Hannity botched the interview. Moore thought he was going on to deny accusations of child molestation made by that one woman. Hannity accepted that lying Washington Post bitch's allegation that dating teenagers meant her claims that he molested a 14 year old were true.
Hannity should have separated those two claims, and focused on the accusation of child molestation, but Hannity instead put forth the opinion that Moore dating teenagers made him a creep.
Moore was caught in an unwinnable situation where admitting to dating teenagers would be seen as an admission of guilt that he molested a 14 year old. Hannity should not have established such false equivalency.
There should be prosecutions. Both state and federal prosecutions.
