Baader-Meinhof Syndrome: The Disease You Almost Certainly Have
American Thinker ^ | January 6, 2018 | Gary Gindler

Posted on 01/06/2019 2:55:05 PM PST by WWII_Historian

Baader-Meinhof syndrome is a relatively recently studied mental disorder. It was described as a psychological phenomenon about 20 years ago. The peculiarity of this phenomenon is that, unlike all other diseases known to us, it is not named after a doctor or a scientist, but after terrorists of the German organization “The Red Army Faction” (Rote Armee Fraktion).

This left-wing terrorist organization was founded in 1970 by bohemian Andreas Baader and journalist Ulrica Meinhof, and it has carried out dozens of murders, numerous abductions, and bombings. Some of the victims of the gang were a colonel of the U.S. Army, the attorney general of Germany, and the head of Deutsche Bank.

The name of the organization was chosen because of solidarity with the Red Army of the USSR, but often this organization was called simply the Baader-Meinhof gang. The ideological platform of the gang was Marxism-Leninism and anti-Semitism.

In 1994, an individual who had never heard of this bloody gang was hearing about them on radio and television twice a day. After that, he began searching everywhere to find references to these terrorists. With surprising ease, he searched for references to this gang only and discarded all other news as superfluous.

This is the psychological phenomenon (or illusion) of Baader-Meinhof: after a person has learned something new (however not just new, but rather exciting new), they begin to see these new events or ideas everywhere. The mind of such a person from the entire informational cacophony of the surrounding world starts to single out only what he is looking for. In addition, each new mention of the subject further strengthens his confidence that this new phenomenon or idea exists everywhere.

Isn’t this just like when you buy a new car, you end up seeing that same car everywhere on the road?

When I was in Direct Sales, one of my ‘mentors’ told me that new customers were like Pink Elephants. Once you start LOOKING for them, they’re everywhere.

And, that was true! :)

Now Baader-Meinhof will be the new thing seen everywhere.

In this way, it can be said that Baader-Meinhof disproves itself.

Yep, don’t forget that Ulrike Meinhof started off as a journalist.

I bet there are a couple of “journalists” here that would love to follow her example.

Pretty much, I think. You don’t notice it, until you do, and then it seems pervasive.

From the article, in an explanation of the disorder:

If someone hears that "Jews dominate Hollywood," a person immediately searches for Jewish-sounding surnames in the credits of all films, finds them, and notes with satisfaction one more "confirmation" of the thesis that "Jews control Hollywood."

Uh....but in fact Jews DO dominate Hollywood.

Everything needs a new syndrome to explain it. In fact, I bet there is a syndrome to describe my skepticism to accept all these syndrome explanations.

This has been know for years and years...

It's a principal we use in advertising. Consumers become (subconsciously) sensitized to the product or service they are about to buy. It informs how we manage content and imagery.

Think about what happens when you buy a new car. You may never have seen one on the streets until you brought yours home. Now you see them everywhere.

Egg head BS

Back in the day, the Rad Army Faction in Germany was known as the Baader-Meinhof Gang? What about Ruth Baader Ginsburg? - seems like a possibility.

All of them are certifiable.

When I ws in Germany at the time, their posters were everywhere. a gang of maybe 16-20, mug shots on utility poles , buildings, windows. When one was caught or killed new posters would come out with a big red X over their mug shot.

I do have one bone to pick with the article.

That is the subject of Obongo’s place of birth.
There are some hard facts that certainly deserve to be viewed critically.

One is that the birth certificate that was put up on the White House website was undoubtably manufactured and photoshopped. I know more than enough about Photoshop to do a better job than that.

Also the unwillingness to allow the state of Hawaii to share his birth certificate, and the unfortunate demise of somebody involved in that.

I do not see that as delusion if you actually study hard facts. At least there’s enough evidence to cast reasonable doubt upon Obama’s origin.

Slick Willie and Obongo never released their full medical records to the best of my knowledge. Yet they and all of their cohorts have demanded repeatedly that Republicans release all the information on their own history. Again this is something that smells funky.

Obongo’s college records sealed immediately after taking office. I don’t think it takes a large dose of paranoia to find that somewhat strange to say the least.

Anyway, I think they’re excellent points in the article though I do not think the murky origins of Barack Obama belong in this particular article.
