Mary Poppins and Black panther are the only two I’ve ever heard of. I tried to watch black panther on Netflix but it took five viewings to get all the way through, and even then I finally just started skipping through fight scenes.
The movie could not suspend disbelief for me.
The “superior technology” coupled with “surviving ancient culture” just didn’t work. What also didn’t work was all the warriors being female. That was just stupid. I couldn’t take the movie seriously.
I think Vox Lux was a brand of soap my grandmother used to use.
You did better than me. I got 15 minutes in, got bored and paused it, and never made it back.
“What also didnt work was all the warriors being female. That was just stupid. I couldnt take the movie seriously.”
That’s what they call a conservative movie? One that intentionally puts down males and advances the narrative of Feminazis?
Thanks for your cogent review, I’ll avoid it like the plague.
To me it just looked like a dream made up for Blacks to fantasize about.
The sad truth about Africa, is that not much positive came out of it. Egypt yes, but pretty much anything below the Sudan was just a wasteland.
I take no pleasure in this. Compare lower Africa to Europe, or better yet the U. S. It’s just sad.
I enjoy seeing Black action heroes who fight for good in contemporary settings. I like seeing successful Blacks in everyday life too. I just can’t watch brain dead nonsense.
You mention women action heroes in this movie, and it’s something I’ve noted, and not just in this movie.
It isn’t limited to 5’ 0” women either. They pull the same routine on 60 pound kids. And they can’t put a child in a movie unless he’s a walking encyclopedia and depicted to not only be smarter than his knuckle dragging parents (at last depicted that way), but giving Einstein a run for the money too.
Ridiculous. It’s just insulting to your intelligence.
Look, we’ve all suspended belief for action movies, but for goodness sake. The absurdity of today’s writers and producers is seemingly limitless.
Very agenda driven. I could not finish it.
