Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Suggests Super Wealthy be Taxed Up to 70% to Fund ‘Green New Deal’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sat with Anderson Cooper for an upcoming 60 Minutes interview set to air this Sunday, a portion of which has been released as a promotion. In the released segment, Ocasio-Cortez reveals how exactly she suggests paying for the environmental agenda known as the “Green New Deal” — with remarkably higher tax rates for the super wealthy.
Ocasio-Cortez suggests in the clip that in her esteem, people should be doing more to pay their “fair share.” When Cooper pressed on how she could possibly pay for the deal, she pointed to the progressive tax rate system in the 1960s, explaining that if you earn 0 to $75,000 a year, you would only pay 10% or 15% in income tax.
She continued:
“But once you get to the tippie tops, on your $10 millionth, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60% or 70%. That doesn’t mean all $10 million are taxed at an extremely high rate. But it means that as you climb up this ladder, you should be contributing more.”
Cooper replied that she was proposing a “radical agenda.”
“If that’s what radical means, call me a radical,” she said.

It is untrue that poor people do not pay taxes. That is why democrats created the lottery specifically to tap that market
She says when you earn your “10 millionth dollar,” the margin kicks in. Does Maxine Waters know about this, as one who could become the latest billionaire after a month or two chairing the House finance and banking committee?

AOC probably hasn’t made the connection yet that her $174K salary puts her in the top 1% of incomes.
Why not a wealth tax where the government just takes 70% of your acquired wealth?
The super wealthy are the ones keeping the borders open........

Incomes over $10 million are so rare that a high tax rate on them would be peanuts to the fedgov.
Anything over a million, sure.
And super wealthy Democrats in DC and Hollywood will, I’m certain, back her by voluntarily upping their contribution to 70%, as a matter of principle.
I agree with her, only tax them 99% since almost all of them are freakin hardcore Rat supporters. Let’s tax Dork F*ckerturd, Jeff Bozos, the Kock brothers 99% see how much they support the left then.
She might ant to check with her super wealthy colleagues first.
Ocasio-Cortez might be dumb. But her strategy is not so dumb. Her latest ramblings have given her more free publicity. And a 70% tax on the evil rich would be welcomed by most liberals. They would see it as a VERY good thing.
So if I were advising her, I’d say keep up these attacks on the “rich”. And keep up with all that ‘Green New Deal’ nonsense. And then write a book about it. It would sell like hotcakes.
And as her adviser I would, of course, get a 15% cut (in cash only please, so I don’t have to report it).
