Jeff, I worked for the federal government and I experienced shutdown situations. Federal employees are fine during this time.
They do not need sympathy. They need a massive downsizing.
“Jeff, I worked for the federal government and I experienced shutdown situations. Federal employees are fine during this time.”
I also worked for the federal government as a pharmacist and was considered “essential personnel.” I was required to work as I should be. I worked for no pay but knew full well that when the government reopened I would get all my back pay. I had no problems with this. My duty was to the patients.
The unspoken secret is the non essential personnel welcome these shut downs. They go home and sit on their asses and also get back pay for the time they DID NOT WORK! They love government shutdowns.
The law should be changed on this. All workers should be considered essential and thus work. They will get their back pay.
“They do not need sympathy. They need a massive downsizing.”
Since you have experience working for the federal government may I ask a serious and respectful question? What percentage of hours of federal employment are actually worth paying for?
