WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSET) -- President Trump has signed a new bill into law to keep your family members safe.
The president signed the Ashanti Alert Act, which is legislation that creates a new federal alert system for missing or endangered adults between the ages of 18 and 64.
The law is named after Ashanti Bille, the 19-year-old was abducted in Norfolk in 2017.
Her body was discovered in North Carolina 11 days after she was reported missing.
When Ashanti was abducted, she was too old for an Amber Alert and too young for a Silver Alert.
The Ashanti Alert, like the other alert systems, would notify the public about missing or endangered adults through a national communications network to assist law enforcement in the search.
Mass cellphone messaging will make it easier to enlist the entire public to help police find people who are missing/want privacy or are a danger to themselves, i.e.: Conservatives, firearms owners, constitutional gadflys, etc ;n)
Another fun way for DNC-Antifa-marxists to SWAT/DOX a political target for search n destroy harassment, reputation damage, possible police assassination...
Is this where all our domestic enemies complain about the President’s text message ruining their lives — again?
Yeah- what could possibly go wrong with this...
RE: “what could possibly go wrong with this?”
At least there’s potential for a person to have their 15 minutes of fame...
*-> Like the other notifications, the Ashanti Alert will use commercial radio stations, television stations and cable television to broadcast information about missing persons. Road and highway electronic signs notifying the public of the possible abduction will also be activated. <-
There are requirements for broadcast, including: if law enforcement believes their physical safety is endangered; if the person suffers from a proven mental or physical disability; or if its believed their disappearance may not have been voluntary.
Her body was found in North Carolina two weeks after she disappeared; Eric Brian Brown, a homeless Navy veteran, is charged in connection to her death, according to the Virginia Pilot.
At the time of her disappearance, Billie was too old to qualify for an Amber Alert which is for minors age 17 and younger and a Silver Alert, which is for people age 65 and older.
Sen. Mark Warner, D-Virginia, one of the bills sponsors, praised its passage and the efforts of Ashantis parents, Meltony and Brandy.
In the wake of an unspeakable tragedy, Meltony and Brandy Billie did something extraordinary: they channeled grief into a determination that other families would be spared the anguish of losing a loved one like they did Ashanti. Though no one can ever erase their pain, I hope it comforts them now to know that Ashantis death will not have been in vain, Warner said. Ashantis memory will carry on in the lives that will be saved through this new alert system.
between the ages of 18 and 64.
?
One of the first things we did when we got our phones was turn off “Amber alert”. They were constant.
You are in luck, FRiend!
Per article, you covered by the Silver Alert system...
“Silver Alert, which is for people age 65 and older.”
It says ‘between’.
You are 64.917 y.o. now; so you’ve been screwed since the day after your 64th birthday party!
Yeah...
Silver Alert, which is for people age 65 and older.
They are Notch babies: between 64 and 65!

All the leftist freaks I know were very angry at Trump for “sending” the message and ruining their kids’ school days, their own days, etc.
And here I was plotting to run away from home and joining the circus. Thanks a lot Trump.
“the Ashanti Alert will use commercial radio stations, television stations and cable television to broadcast information about missing persons.”
Facebook and Twit alerts would make the whole nation see it. (well, most of the nation)
