The Dems believe that by keeping the President from fulfilling his main campaign promise it will assure them a victory in 2020 by alienating him from his base, but they’re wrong. The sane part of our electorate will see this obvious ploy for what it is, and will be furious that they played politics with our national security.
Their strategy probably would have worked in the 1980s/1990s era. But since President Obama used the shut-down chatter a great deal, I think most folks got used to it. When you reach the end of February, and it’s still shut down, and several thousand DC employees haven’t been paid in two months...this whole strategy will collapse for Pelosi.
I think Trump’s whole gameplan is to get them to agree to a 1.5 billion dollar 2019 Wall plan, and to guarantee in 2020 a similar amount. I think if you dragged the Army Corps of Engineers into this talk, they’d say at best...they can do maybe 400 to 500 miles of quality fencing per year. Maybe commercial companies could promise a higher quantity.
Hopefully election night 2020 will give us plenty of fresh “liberal tears” videos to watch at lunchtime.
