Giving Taiwan nukes would be even more of a provocation than when Russia put nukes in Cuba.

No need to invade to win -— the Chinese could just shell Taiwan flat. Remember Matsu and Quemoi in the ‘60s? China has many, many arty, rocket and missile batteries trained on Taiwan today. I think there was another big build arty up a few years or ten back.

I agree - China doesn’t need to invade, they have many options to rope Taiwan in, and there are grave risks to the Communist regime itself if they DO invade and start a long and bloody war.

"Non sequitur just because we shouldnt be the world police, it doesnt follow that China is our friend,..."
It is the presumed antecedent, though. The PLA under the CPC is expansionist in nature. Ignorance towards expansionism is what allowed the Germans to commit acts of war against the United States in World War 1 and World War 2.
The same ignorance is sucking both China and Russia into hastening efforts to expand control now into South America, the Caribbean, Africa and many other places. The same ignorance is sucking them into implying threats to annihilate the U.S.A. And to that truth, cowardly keyboard hippies often insult the bearers of reality with projections.

Good timing to get our forces out of (and moving out of) the Middle East. Let our friends take care of their own business...they can handle it for now.
China may need a major slap-down. I hope that President Trumps economic one will suffice, but I am not optimistic that it alone will be enough.
That country is a MAJOR budding threat to a whole lot of our interests in the Pacific.

Taiwan can’t last for long against China, but they can inflict massive damage. China would need to decide if they are willing to pay that price.
A few years ago, it was reported that a couple of missiles could destroy the Three Gorges dam in China. It could kill millions and flood a massive amount of land.
Taiwan could also shoot missiles into Hong Kong and thereby damage their golden goose.

The ChiComm apes do not have the logistical capability to invade Taiwan. Some comicbook readers believe in the myth of the Chinese superman. Most are stupid neo-con idiots who want you and your children to die for the glory of Rich Lowry and his band of merry stooges.

The distance between China and Taiwan is 110 kilometers. Do tell us which ChiComm artillery pieces that can fire a shell 110 kilometers.

I see it as a mistake, but it appears that most interested Americans would agree with you on that.

I see the current situation as being worse than the situation before World War 2. There's a new axis forming, and its influences are in quite a few resources and nations around the planet.

And THATS what all the empty cities are for. Its not just incompetent planning or corrupt boondoggling to buoy the economy. The same reason they are building all of the unnecessary "transportation" vessels.
They are expecting to lose a bunch of both in the near future.
