Thanks!

I was happy to get my $400 paycheck every two weeks.

I was active during the government shutdown in 96.

We laughed it off. As long as there was chow in the chow hall, we were not worried about a government shutdown.

Hahahaha.

God bless this man. 8th and I is where they’re stationed to protect the government. It’s within the sound of a gunshot from the White House.

Yes, my best friends brother was killed accidentally by another soldier in Vietnam, in barracks, I believe. Very sad.

I know what you mean, but no, sorry, the guards know all about, idiots, drunks, gangs, transients, etc.

They are more than trained for those hazards.

New year’s Eve happens every year, and we all knew about Anacostia new year’s Eve gunfire.

To me, this only makes sense, if the Marine was attacked.

The only place where an accident could occur, at Marine Barracks Washington, would be a place where accidents don’t occur. That’s the main guard office, where Marines check in/out for shift change.

There are just so many procedures and processes in place to prevent errors.

Plus there are eyes and cameras all over the place.

If you’re a Dan Bongino fan, he often says, check it once, check it twice, check it three times for safety.

There is always a Marine NCO personally supervising every time a weapon is loaded/unloaded, every round of ammo is counted before and after shift.

These guys are professionals.

We actually had placards with safety sayings all over the place.

There is NO SUCH THING as an accidental discharge.

Negligent discharge is a CRIME.

Things like that.

If this happened outside the guard house, I’m guessing the guard was attacked.

If one of the guards was screwing around, that’s a criminal offense, and there would be someone in MP custody.

I’m don’t think we will know what happened here if it was something internal. Marine Corps likes it’s privacy.

If Feds gets involved, they are more likely to hold a press conference.

Feds like cameras.

I just read the fox article.

Someone in DC police said it happened during shift change, which is done at main guard office.

Tragic!

I’d venture a guest it’s been several years since you were at 8th & I. It’s almost wall to wall yuppies now, as is most of DC ... neighborhoods that 20 year ago you wouldn’t go near are selling houses that were then boarded up for (well) over $1Million.
