What was your friend’s impression of the jurors? Were they biased against the guy? Apparently your friend agreed with their reasoning since he opted not to hang the jury.

Well...the guy was absolutely guilty, but I don’t think he got a fair trial due to incompetent defense! The trial should have been held outside of C’ville and there should have been psychiatric considerations. The guy really is nuts, not some right wing whatever the idiots here make him out to be. This is what happens when the nuts police the nuts!
Agree he was guilty. His driving the car into the crowd killed the girl. I’m not sure first degree murder fits the facts, though, and the sentencing seemed overboard. He may have had a bad lawyer but the mindset of the jury matters too. I could be totally wrong but I suspect he had a hostile jury compounding any shortcomings of the defense lawyer.
It’s too bad ‘the press’ works for democrat liberal ‘elites’... it would make a good story.
