Trump urged to nationalize ‘E-Verify’ after 700 percent surge in arrests of illegal workers

President Trump is being encouraged to sign an executive order on E-Verify after immigration police said that arrests of illegal immigrant workers and employers surged 700 percent.

Led by advocates of tighter immigration laws, Trump is getting advice to nationalize the E-Verify system that the federal government uses to make sure that contractors are hiring employees that are legally allowed to work in the United States.

“There are many changes that could be made to the immigration laws that would enable the United States to gain control over its illegal population,” said Andrew R. Arthur, a former immigration judge.

“Of all of the proposals, however, E-Verify would be the most effective at curbing illegal entries and limiting nonimmigrant overstays. And the president could likely make it mandatory through executive action,” added Arthur, now a legal expert with the Center for Immigration Studies.

The push for the simple employment verification system, currently a voluntary opt-in for nongovernment contractors, comes after Immigration and Customs Enforcement revealed stunning new statistics of workplace enforcement investigations.

Look, I have to certify that I am a USA resident able to work in the USA. If I have to do it in order to be able to work, the illegals must do it too. Oh yeah, then they won't be able to work here legally - TA DA!

Not sure this could be done w/o Congressional action.

E-Verify bothers me a lot. Short term, it will help control illegal immigration. Long-term, it becomes a mighty weapon of the deep state.

If they can’t work, there is no reason for them to come here. We wouldn’t even need a wall if employers could verify the legal status of their employees. Up until now it’s been considered “discriminatory”.

E-Verify needs to do MORE than simply confirm that a presented name & SSN “match” and belong to anon-deceased individual.. It needs to ALERT Homeland Security if the presented SSN appears to be in use in multiple locations and employers simultaneously BY DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS. Illegal Aliens engage in a lot of stolen identity FRAUD!

CATCH & DEPORT! And make their fraud exclude them from ever entering the country legally in the future.

If they actively pursued illegal employment of illegal aliens the arrest rate would go up 7000%

When the deep state uses E-Verify as a mighty weapon, it's no longer the deep state: it's the overwhelming majority, so the game is over anyway.

But I don't see this happening without Congressional approval, and we don't have the House.

States can do it, forcing the illegals to move to other states. So there's that.

This will immediately be challenged before a Lib-shopped judge that will put a nation-wide hold on it.

We might, might get an E-verify law by 2020. And what we get will be watered down so much by the Uniparty as to be almost useless.

Better enforcement of e-verify - yes, but don’t most illegals come here to “not work”? As long as there is free health, care, education, welfare etc. they will keep coming.

Check out: https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2016/07/for_every_wrong_a_remedybut_not_for_the_honest_worker_and_contractor.html Your concern is connected to the startling fact that Congress has acted to prevent American workers from being able to sue employers who displace them with illegal immigrant workers. If American workers displaced by illegal immigrants were allowed to sue, a la antitrust, for treble damages and attorney fees, “free labor express” employers would be stopped in their tracks.

An E.O. Is DOA as a court will block before the ink is dry. Congress needs to legislatively mandate use. Tired of the E.O. That amoun to grandstanding and accomplish nothing once taken to a court.
