Privatize the VA.
It’s not that simple. If you have concrete policy ideas , that might be a start.
Oh...Btw, there aren’t enough providers...doctors, nurses, social workers, etc in the private sector either.
Catchb22
I am all for privatizing the VA. Since 1972 they have reduced the number of beds at the VA. They have changed records of the vets to CYA their own selves. I have seen an individual sick with pneumonia on Monday cannot get a bed until Friday and in the morgue on the following Monday. I personally have been almost killed had I not had the foresight to go to a private hospital, for which the VA would not pay for the surgeries, even though their ER doc misdiagnosed me. I have been told so many lies by quacks they call doctors it is not even funny. It still takes over 3 months to get an appointment to see a specialist which a general practitioner could have done in the private sector.
On the flip side the VA has made great strides in some things but the employees encountered there leave a lot to be desired. I Walked in with an iPad because I was reading a book through Kindle. I was called Mr. Technology. Anyone would be called Mr. Technology when the VA is still using Win 95 and monochromatic green screens in 2005. I personally have witnessed nepotism at the VA and found out later that this was due to the VA not hiring Vets. Unions have kept the good workers down while promoting some of the worst employees there ever was.
I have been treated at four different VAs longer than a year at each. Terrible system and it continues to be looked at as an example of a single-payer system in America. Let me tell you this, the VA should never ever be used as an example unless it is an example of what not to do. Think of this, at one VA I was told,] a surgery that a private surgeon said I needed within two weeks would have taken over 3 months to get at the VA.
I have been yelled at by a Vietnam vet for daring to seek private insurance. I have had to fight the VA for over 12 years to get a letter from a doctor.
The VA is not full health care and it never will be, get that myth out of your head. It cannot be called a full healthcare system only a partial one.
Privatize Postal system and Amtrak they never make a profit.
Parasites fat and happy.
