So, it’s the Democrats who you believe are right?

Patents force others to find a different way. That’s it.

Patents are inherently anti-capitalistic. Republican party has always been pro-corporate America, and not necessarily capitalistic. Capitalism, by definition, has many buyers and many sellers for goods. A patent grants a monopoly, removing the “many sellers.” Patents should be granted, but for a limited time. Patents were never setup so one industry could make 3000% profit margin for 20 years, then slightly alter the formula to get another 10 year extension. This is why healthcare costs have gone up at 2x+ the rate of inflation since the 70s.

Patents also help those with the initiative to invent/develop something worthwhile to profit from it w/o others playing “China” with their ideas/products....unless you ain’t been paying attention, Walmart offers a lot of generic options for items that began with proprietary patents....
