Narrow majority backs Trump on Syria, Afghanistan troop reductions
The Hill ^ | Dec 29, 2018

A narrow majority of U.S. voters support President Trump's decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria and reduce the country's military presence in Afghanistan, according to a new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released exclusively to The Hill.

Fifty-two percent of respondents said they back the moves in Syria and Afghanistan, which came as a surprise to the president's own national security advisers when it was announced last week. By contrast, 48 percent said they oppose the troop withdrawals and reductions, the poll found.

Trump announced he would completely remove the approximately 2,000 troops in Syria battling ISIS, while he said he would cut in half the roughly 14,000 U.S. force in Afghanistan.

The announcements contributed to the resignation of Defense Secretary James Mattis and Brett McGurk, the U.S. special envoy to the coalition fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

It would be much more than a narrow majority if not for the maniacs. There are people (we all know them) who have been anti-war their whole lives yet oppose this because they hate President Trump and anything he does.

As much as liberals hate Trump I doubt that many (non-politician) ones are against his move to bring home the troops. They can tell a pollster that it’s a bad idea but they probably agree with him, but will never say it.

The polls are rubbish. I haven’t met anyone who wants us to stay in Afghanistan.

Pretty impressive considering the mainstream media’s been a non-stop cavalcade of neoconservatives screaming bloody murder over this.

It’s flat out illegal to stay in Syria.

If it were the Kenyan, it would read: “Overwhelming
majority backs Obama on Syria, Afghanistan troop reductions...a clear mandate!”

Funny.
I haven’t seen all that many anti-war people in political activism during my lifetime.

Certainly there were damned few of them in the United States during the sixties and seventies. Actual war protesters would protest against the diplomatic corps, Congress, the president, and the state department. The people who actually decide whether or not there will be a war.

People who protest at military bases are not in any way opposing the existence of war, they are merely opposing soldiers. It was like people angry at a law firm protesting the mailman for delivering legal notices.

Narrow majority backs Trump on Syria, Afghanistan troop reductions

Which means a large majority backs PDJT on Syria,Afghanistan troop reductions. The results were probably higher than they liked but of course can't put it out there like that so that have to position it as barely having support.

Remember yesterday's headline from The Hill's fake poll was Majority in poll want Trump impeached or censured-a poll that they took in Jerry Nadler's living room. Their definition of majority seems to be fluid.

Is Soros going to organize marches to demand that troops be kept in Syria?

I expect people are answering honestly, and liberals mostly support the withdrawal while conservatives mostly oppose it. I’ve never met a liberal who felt that any defense spending was doing anything other than diverting funds from the welfare state.

If the Harris poll shows Trump with a 52% & 48%....it is probably more like 60%-40%, in the real world. I trust no polls whatsoever.

Keep at and on, POTUS, Trump....you are gonna win, win, win. why? The vast majority of the American people are standing with and behind you.

Pelosi dancing the “Hula” in Kona, Hawaii, Maxine Waters drinking tons of rum in the Bahamas & Chuck Schumer hiding, as silent as a frightened house mouse. All of them human scum & vermin. Yes, Democrats keep them borders open so more aliens can invade the USA and murder our police and innocents. I hope you 800,000 federal Government workers are really happy for the useless dregs you voted for. Have fun getting no paycheck. I hope it lasts for a year, or more. LMAO at the total fools & buffoons you deadbeat Feds are!!! If I were the POTUS, I would permanently lay off everyone of you totally ineffective, lazy, low life, poor excuses for Americans.

And, Finally, Americans, all, contribute today to ‘The Go Fund The Border Wall Campaign”. Those volunteer contributions from American Citizens has now exceeded $18,000,000 in just ten days, and is climbing higher & faster every passing day. Donate...now!!!

What are our troops accomplishing there? Are they fighting a war and killing the enemy? No? Then get them out

Why take polls? Voters couldn’t find Syria or Afghanistan on a marked map.

Two possibilities here

This is a lie, and most people feel our duty and mission in the ME is over.

Or, nearly half the people in this country will follow and believe whatever the liberals say regardless of contradictions

My goodness, I remember all the liberal anti war people under GW and the media constantly trying to undermine the military while fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan
