Government submits sealed response to Supreme Court over mystery company fighting subpoena

The federal government filed a sealed response Friday to the Supreme Court involving a mystery case with possible ties to special counsel Robert Mueller.

CNN reports that the federal government has filed a response to a temporary pause the court put on an order holding an unnamed, foreign government-owned company in contempt.

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts halted the contempt order on Sunday after a lower court upheld the order earlier this month.

It would be the first known challenge to a case apparently related to the Mueller probe to reach the Supreme Court, CNN noted.

The mystery company argued that it was immune from criminal proceedings under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act and that the subpoena was unenforceable because it would require “the Corporation” to violate “Country A’s” domestic law.

The contempt order also included a $5,000-a-week fine.

Roberts’s order was only temporary until the court got further orders, though with the government’s response he could refer the case to the whole Supreme Court to determine next steps.

If the court decides to fully review the lower court’s ruling, it would take a majority of the nine justices to keep in place the hold on the contempt order.

What could be more American than a secret trial, with Secret pleadings in a secret Court, going to the Supreme Court, so that they can set a secret precedent?

An American Security State BS

I’d guess Mueller is on a fishing expedition, subpoenaing all of Trump’s and the Trump Organization’s financial records from a foreign bank.

Just to see if there is anything the Democrats can use to make him look bad in 2020, or impeach him in 2019.

This straight from the Iron Curtain.

Only a violent bloody revolution will bring the nation back.

The US is dead.

We are not moving in the direction of greater freedom and transparency. The options are dwindling...

Is this really a secret trial? I mean — is there anything that prevents “the Corporation” from “Country A” from coming out and spilling the beans on this whole story?

My guess is that Deutsche Bank is the company and Germany is the country, with Trump’s finances being the target of the subpoena.

Could this possibly be something to do with the Russians that Mueller indicted and then suddenly dropped when they asked for discovery>>>>

Looks like government to government stuff. If used in an American court to prosecute someone, it will be public.

As noted, it is probably Deutsche Bank, known to front for Russia.

Democracy (Encyclopedia Britannica film, circa 1946)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx25aMPvbJo

“The newspapers of a real democracy meet these tests...”

Newspaper checks.
1. Balance of coverage
2. Disclosure of source
3. Competence of staff

“A community is low on a ‘Respect’ scale if common courtesy is withheld from large groups of people on account of their political attitudes.”

“...in a downright despotism opposition is dangerous whether the despotism is official or whether it is unofficial...”

“A community rates low on the ‘Information’ scale when the press, radio, and other channels of communication are controlled by only a few people and when citizens have to accept what they are told.”

“See how a community trains its teachers”
“...these students are being taught to accept uncritically whatever they are told. Questions are not encouraged.”

“And if books and newspapers and the radio [and facebook and youtube and...] are officially controlled the people will read and accept exactly what the few in control want them to. Government censorship is one form of control. The newspaper that breaks the government censorship rule can be suspended. It is also possible for newspapers and other lines of communication to be controlled by private interests...”

If they are in contempt of court, release the damn company’s name.

I’ll bet when it’s all said and done, there will be no there there. I suspect this is just a power/PR play for Mueller. He has nothing. What a fool.
