There would still need to be an underlying criminal offense in order for Trump to be impeached. Podhoretz and Mueller and none of the democrats can name a criminal offense that is impeachment-worthy. The economy could turn overnight into a Venezuela, but, impeachment would still not be warranted.

No, impeachment and removal from office, while different things, still are political, not criminal, actions.

There would still need to be an underlying criminal offense in order for Trump to be impeached. Podhoretz and Mueller and none of the democrats can name a criminal offense that is impeachment-worthy.
They could bring him up on charges of failing to trim his nose hair properly, and if there are enough votes there in both chambers, he will be impeached.
I don't believe that will ever happen, but there is nothing to prevent it being done for blatantly, purely political reasons.
