BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) The young men sit in chairs in a circle in a small meeting room in suburban Seattle and introduce themselves before they speak. It is much like any other 12-step meeting but with a twist.
Hi, my name is, each begins. Then something like, and Im an internet and tech addict.
The eight whove gathered here are beset by a level of tech obsession thats different than it is for those of us who like to say were addicted to our phones or an app or some new show on a streaming video service. For them, tech gets in the way of daily functioning and self-care. Were talking flunk-your-classes, cant-find-a-job, live-in-a-dark-hole kinds of problems, with depression, anxiety and sometimes suicidal thoughts part of the mix.
Theres Christian, a 20-year-old college student from Wyoming who has a traumatic brain injury. His mom urged him to seek help because he was medicating his depression with video games and marijuana.
Seth, a 28-year-old from Minnesota, used video games and any number of things to try to numb his shame after a car he was driving crashed, seriously injuring his brother.
Wes, 21, an Eagle Scout and college student from Michigan, played video games 80 hours a week, only stopping to eat every two to three days. He lost 25 pounds and failed his classes.

Not sure videogames can be considered “addictive.”
They’re just a form of escapism that can be taken too far.

My mother never breast-fed me, she said she liked me as a friend!
When I was born, the Doctor slapped my mother! [I heard the nurse had a few shots at me, too]
Doctor turned me upside down, spun me around, and then he said, Look! Twins!
My poor mother, she got morning sickness AFTER I was born!
My dad asked mom if she wanted him to be in the room for my birth. She replied, Why? You werent in the room when he was conceived!
The doc came to the waiting room and said to my dad, I am SO sorry. We did everything possible, but he survived anyway!
A sample from Rodney Dangerfield.
The Dangerfield Tourette syndrome wins again...
I’d love to be left alone on a weekend to even try that stuff.
A weekend just for any peace and quiet is almost impossible to get.
You want to talk about immature reprobate “adults”?
